Phil Bobic has certainly made his presence felt at only his fourth dressage competition with Jemma Heran's absolutely delightful import, 'Go Dutch III' (Gracieux/Steinglanz). The good looking combination out worked some big names in dressage this afternoon to take fourth place in the Zilco Intermediate Freestyle with an impressive 70.35%. Certainly, Go Dutch is far mare than a riding class horse, but there is no reason he cannot do both. Phil's is the dressage debut of the year.

Daniella Dierks rode Melanie Bloom's Sonny Boy stallion, 'Bloomers Simply The Best' (pictured) to second place in the Hanoverian Horse Society of Australia NSW Five Year Old Young Horse Championship. A little later Danielle won the Six Year Old Championship with her own imported San Amour stallion, Solo Feliz.

John Thompson risked it all and was the highlight of the Grand Prix Freestyle CDI night riding his , 'Bates Antonello' (Anamour/Flair). John used the horse's piaffe and passage talent ridden one handed to encourage the crowd to get involved; and they did. John and Antonello received an artistic mark of 76% from Five Star Judge at C, Cara Witham. She gave them an overall score of 72%, but with the other marks factored in they finished with a score of 68.70%
Judy Dierks contemplates what might be with Vicki Newham's imported Diamond Hit gelding, 'Diamond Star'. Third in the Grand Prix CDI with 68.70%, Judy and the Grand Prix newcomer went on to thrill the packed house and win the Grand Prix Freestyle with 72.78%. The competition was close as Mary Hanna was second riding Umbro with 72.55%.. If the competition proves one thing, it is that you can never, never discount Judy Dierks.
Tayla Desmet from Victoria made a clean sweep of the Young Rider classes riding the beautiful Rotspon gelding, 'Rodrigo III' winning the Agnes Banks Young Rider Freestyle CDIY today with 70.225%. Tayla also took out the Greystone Young Rider Award for the highest score (69.42%) in Young Rider classes excluding Freestyle.
Sell out for freestyle night at the Sydney CDI. Both the VIP dinner and the all seats for the Sydney International Equestrian were pre-sold before Saturday.
