On the fourth day of the nine day long Australian Stock Horse Society National Show the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge got under way this morning with the cattle/campdrafting section. The 89 plus strong field go through the campdrafting, Working, Hacking and Time Trial sections before an eventual overall winner is announced. There is prize money awarded for each section and an overall winning purse of $3,000 plus a trophy saddle. Nathan Presdee and 'Smada Phoenix' earned 20 points in this first test.
Victorian rider and trainer, Mat Holz won the Novice Draft with , 'Kanika Two Up' but only managed a score of 20 in the cattle/campdraft section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.
