2016 ASH Nationals

On the fourth day of the nine day long Australian Stock Horse Society National Show the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge got under way this morning with the cattle/campdrafting section. The 89 plus strong field go through the campdrafting, Working, Hacking and Time Trial sections before an eventual overall winner is announced. There is prize money awarded for each section and an overall winning purse of $3,000 plus a trophy saddle. Nathan Presdee and 'Smada Phoenix' earned 20 points in this first test.

Victorian rider and trainer, Mat Holz won the Novice Draft with , 'Kanika Two Up' but only managed a score of 20 in the cattle/campdraft section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

Daisy Robertson won the Ladies Draft riding, 'Mt Echos Regal Optimist' and with a bit of vocal encouragement scored 66 in the cattle section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

Cameron Jones and 'Ceekayjay Sophistication' earned 79 in the cattle section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

Luke Carmen and 'Tookalook Supregirl' certainly look the goods but on this occasion the beast did not co operate for a score of 20 in the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

The cattle did not co operate even for super successful rider and trainer, Warwick Lawrence and his , 'Cedar Downs Limited Edition' that earned 22 in the cattle section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

Wyatt Young made the most of his opportunities aboard, 'Cedarvale Twist' for a good score of 87 in the cattle section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

Hugh Main's, 'Bunderra Saffron' is psyching the beast to do the right thing and it worked for a score of 82 in the cattle section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

Very successful, , Madlyn Watchirs earned the good score of 89 riding the home bred, 'Watchirs Star' in the cattle section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

Tristan Holz and, 'Trewarric Sonny' scored 19 thanks to very speedy cattle in the campdraft section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

Troy Palmer's Acres Destiny stallion, 'Binnia Impressive Destiny' usually lives up to his name. However the winner of the Open and Stallion Drafts only managed 22 in the cattle section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

Lachie Sim and 'Fancy Freckled Acre' earned 85 in the cattle section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

Legendry Australian Stock Horse breeder and exhibitor, Iain Hyde scored a good 86 points in the cattle section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge riding his homebred, 'Hydeout Macca'.

A well dressed Ben Healy rode , 'Madison Park Fletcher' to earn 84 in the cattle section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

Successful young breeder, rider and trainer, Cole Moxey scored an impressive 88 riding his homebred, 'Orlanga Reba' in the cattle section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge. The final event, the Time Trail was conducted as the nght time entertainment.

Roxene Kingston all the way from Tasmania with her, 'Everhope Bullwinkle' scored a good 79 in the cattle section of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge.

Conducted at the wonderful ARLEC complex in Tamworth, Tanya Hooley and 'Barega Recess' challenge themselves in the first test of the RM Williams Abbey Open Challenge. They scored 16 in the campdraft section.

Successful breeder and competitor Craig Main is pictured aboard his equally successful, 'Mains Lochlan'. It is testimony to the speed of the cattle that they scored an uncharacteristic 21.
