2016 Royal Melbourne Show

Pictured earlier in the day, Scarlet Firth representing the Oaklands Hunt Club rode Virginia Wilding's, 'Watch Me Dance' to win the SA Greaves Memorial Hunter's Plate. Sadly the Plates were conducted in poor weather and late on Monday evening.

Former Oaklands Master of Foxhounds, Darren Green has been a long time supporter and organiser of the Hunting classes at Melbourne. He is pictured aboard Kathleen Cust's, thoroughbred 'Cotley'. Oaklands was the only club to enter the once huge and prestigious, Peter Ronald Memorial Hunt Club Teams event.

Lesley Stewart drove James Stewart's, 'Jeanal Baron' to take third place in the well attended class for Novice Delivery Horse.

William Lewin's 'Tommy' is pictured working out in the class for Novice Delivery Horse on the final day of the 2016 Royal Melbourne Show.

Legendary horseman, John "Paddo" Patterson is pictured driving his, 'Jimmy' in the class for Novice Delivery horse. John was mindful to introduce his passenger, Tom Melum from Vanuatu.

With 'Joe' that was purchased from the Echuca sale yards doing all the hard work, Shane Patterson drove away in his Brake cart with the Tradesman and Delivery Turnout Single Championship.

Talented reins woman, Jodie McKeone took out the Period Turnout class with her splendid pair of L-R 'Shepherds Hill Larry Warlander' and 'Shepherds Hill Gumboots'.

Vince Corvi drove his own and Corinne Collins' nomination, 'Roseair Manikato' to win the class for Harness Pony 12-13hh and go on to be declared Supreme Champion Harness Pony

Looking very 1920s, Fiona Wilson drove the charming, 'Domino Downs Golden Pearl' to take second place in the Harness Period Turnout class.

Once a regular sight around Melbourne. Peter Cantwell drove the Smith and Cantwell nomination, 'Kilfane Summer' in a Tip Top Bakers van to win the class for Baker's Turnout.

Marjorie Walter exhibits her successful harness ponies all over the country and today took second place in the class for Lady's Harness Pony 12-14hh with her well performed, 'Fleur De Lys Manceni'

Lesley Stewart was in charge of James Stewart's charming entry to win the class for Miscellaneous Shetland Turnout. 'Gracedale Belladier' is pictured pulling the little Chimney Sweep lorry. There would be many at the show who would not know what on earth a chimney sweep was and it just goes to prove what and education the Royal Melbourne Show can be.

Kelsea Bullivant drove Neil Shipard's well performed, 'Lakevale Zipper' to win the class for Lady's Harness Pony 12-14hh.

The final two days of horse competition at the 2016 Royal Melbourne Show were devoted to Harness and Hunting classes. And no harness show is complete without Vince Corvi and his splendid Hackneys. Vince claimed the Viceroy Turnout Championship for Hackneys and part Hackneys with his own and Margaret Beggs nomination, 'Woodhurst The Count'.

It was a day for the Welsh Cobs, as Elsa Avery claimed the Non Hackney Horse Over 14hh Reserve Championship with her always forward going and impressive, 'Crosswynds Our Brenin'

Stuart Ryan has had a wonderful show with his sensational Welsh Cob, 'Stillbrook Tabitha' that was declared Champion Non Hackney Harness Horse Over 14hh on the final day of the 2016 Royal Melbourne Show.

Today Claire Patterson did the driving and Ellen Patterson went along as groom. Claire drove, 'Milbrae Majestic' to claim the class for Long Shaft Brake Under 14hh.

Always supportive behind the scene, Kristin Marriott took the reins today and produced a good workout driving the AT Marriott and Family's magnificent, 'Oscarville Sergeant' in the Lady driver. Later 'Oscarville Sergeant' was declared Champion Heavy/Medium Delivery Horse Driven in a Traditional Vehicle with Andrew Marriott doing the driving.

Andy Cusack drove the Holberton and Cusack's successful Hackney, 'Makari Victory Light' to claim the Hackney Horse Championship.

Samantha Weir had a great show with her great, 'Cathcart Lofty' that took second place in the class for Novice Delivery Horse.

Terri Butler drove her splendid, 'Fernshade Zachery' to win the class for Novice Delivery Horse.

Gaye Watson drove Bruce Hamblin's home bred, 'Toolleen Lucy' to take fourth place in the class for Novice Delivery Horse and second in the Lady Driver.

Brenton Taylor's, 'McMurchie Blair' driven by Joshua Taylor was declared Champion Show Delivery Horse.

Olivia Benger representing the Oaklands Hunt Club had a great show riding Anthony Blakely's, 'Half Moon Rising'. Olivia won the Noel Mason Memorial Hunter's Plate and claimed the Alice Laidlaw Memorial Trophy for Lady Riders Over Obstacles.
