Horseland Kay Irving State Games and Flat Teams State Championships

The Horseland Kay Irving Pony Club Mounted Games have been going for 42 years since 1973. And this is what miss Kay envisaged that it was all about. Children on ponies learning hand/eye skills, developing balance and most of all enjoying life on horseback. Joanna Dunshea representing the Gisborne A Team is pictured aboard her charming, 'Gibby' helping her team to third place in their heat of the Mug Shuffle.

Rhianna Einsiedel and , 'Phantom' show the determination that all riders demonstrate at this fun and competitive Pony Club Mounted Games State Championship. They were representing the Briagolong Pony Club.

Cassidy Fry and show pony turned Games pony, 'Dunelm Limerick' both show the concentration necessary to be successful at any horse sport. Cassidy was a member of the Cannibal Creek Pony Club Team, the youngest team at the 2015 State Championships. They came a creditable third in their heat of the Stick Pegging Relay.

Olivia Rand and , 'Montezuma' demonstrate the accuracy necessary for the Stick Pegging Race. The Pearcedale combination were members of the Pearcedale/Mentone/Dandenong Ranges composite team that took second place in their heat.

Pearcedale Pony Club members, Aleisha Casey and 'Rollover Beethoven' get down to the task in the Stick Pegging Race for the Pearcedale/Mentone/Dandenong Ranges composite Team.

Chelsea Gerring's, 'Ginger Snap' looks as if he has done this all before and he focuses on the finish line during the Stick Pegging Race for the Maryborough Magic Team.

Molly Henry and 'Bailey' are pictured doing their best for the Yarrambat Team. They took second place in their heat of the Stick Pegging race.

Bacchus Marsh 2 Team members, Christine Megson and 'Stylish' show great form and have certainly done this before. They are pictured during the Stick Pegging Race.

Bairnsdale Team members, Sarah Faithful and 'Misty' look to be heading straight towards us. They were members of the overall fifth placed team after a five team ride off.

Olivia Cole and 'Toby' demonstrate the precision necessary during the Mug Shuffle Race. They represented the Stawell Pony Club and took fourth place in their heat.

Oh to be young and flexible. Sonia Grabham and 'Spirit' get down to the action of the Ball and Cone race for the Cobram Pony Club Team.

Oaklands Team Members, Tara Murphy and 'Mate' literally have all four feet off the ground during their Ball and Cone Race. Plenty of the ponies today sensibly retained their winter woollies.

Oaklands Team member, Seren McKeever's taffy pony is called, 'Taffy'. He was one of the many shapes, sizes and colours on active display during the Horseland Kay Irving Pony Club Mounted Games State Championships.

Kangaroo Ground Pony Club were equal first after all the games and took first pace outright after a ride off. Ben Mitton and 'Cheeky' show just how they did it.

Sophie Barber is about to take the final flag in the last event of the day, the Flag and Barrel race , as 'Red' makes a good turn for home for the Stawell Pony Club Team.

Stawell Team member, Brianne Cole is a beautiful position turning for home in the Flag and Barrel race. Her body language says it all with her eyes up and looking towards home and her body is telling 'Bonnie' that she wants a quick turn.
