Despite the temperature hovering around 8 degrees and heavy rain most of the day, the Upper Yarra Adult Riding Club held a successful HRCAV showjumping day, on its wonderful huge all weather arena . Unlike the many AWOL dressage competitors at Werribee the day before, these hardy Adult riders are not put off by a "bit" of bad weather, it just adds to the adventure.

Regardeless of the terrible conditions there were plenty of smiling facings at the Upper Yarra Showjumping day. Kylie Curry from Donvale ARC was very pleased with her Bella Wombat's performance in the Level 4 AM5.
Jenny Cooper from KooWeeRup ARC was acting as strapper for her husband Brian and also team manager for the group of riders from KooWeeRup ARC, who were having a practice run before the HRCAV TTT Showjumping event in September. Jenny is seen here holding Gee Jay First Impression who she has a strong bold with as she gave the mare CPR when she was born and revived her, tube feed her for the first week of her life, nursed her back to health after she was burnt in the Black Saturday bush fires at 5 months old and then nursed her again when she nearly cut her foot off while being broken in. Jenny has done a great job as the young mare seems very happy just to be out and about no matter what the weather.

With snow falling on near by Mount Donna Buang, Michael Kett and Benny from Maroondah ARC blend into the heavy rain. Dispite the conditions this combination took 4th place in the Level 3 AM7.
Christine Hill and Hayes Park Kaluha from Yarra Valley ARC placed 3rd in the Level 3 Top Score.
Being a gate marshall at any event is not a great job, but the officials today kept the event running well with a cheerful manner. The event's hospitality was continued into the canteen with homemade soup and cakes and excellent real hamburgers with the lot cooked to order.
Sharon Smith and Blackwood Ridge Willoughby from Kinglake ARC got some of the worst of the rain during their Level 3 AM 5 round.
