2012 QRHA State Championship & Futurity Show

Warren Backhouse rode Pigeon Waters Ranch's Shiney And New* to take out the Open Derby at the Queensland Reining Horse Association's State Championships & Futurity Show.

After earning a super score of 146.5, Shadyacres Docs Lena ( Whisk-ers )& Ed Smith took home State Championships in both the Non-Pro Futurity & the Intermediate Non-Pro Futurity, was third in the Open Futurity and also winning the Open Intermediate Futurity.

Joelene King's Smoke N Cowboy put his best foot forward for Shaun Saunders in the Open Futurity for a score of 143.5 & fifth placing.

Ridden by Shaun Saunders, Kalnins Quarter Horses' exciting Whizz Peppy turned it on for the crowd with a slick, hard-stopping performance to take out the hotly contested Open Reining with an enormous score of 151.5.

The mighty little Microchip & Devin Lowe slid into equal third place in the Limited Non-Pro.

Guy Laurie & Docs Joelita did some interesting low flying on their way to placing fifth in the Limited Non-Pro.

Docs Fancy Roy & Errol Thomas were the Non-Pro State Champions.

Bruce Tucker & Gunners DaVinci Code made a colourful addition to the large number of competitors in the Limited Non-Pro event.

Rod Osbourne rode OP Whizzabout to the State Championship in the Intermediate Open.

With an excellent score of 149.5, Peter & Lexie Bastable's Onya Wyatt Earp was taken to the win in the Open Futurity by Warren Backhouse.

Equal third placegetters in the Limited Non-Pro were Argyles T Whiz & Bec Laurie.

State Reserve Champion in both the Open Reining & the Open Derby was Deborah Segeren's Ruf Lil Renee* ridden by Warren Backhouse.

Brendan Manz rode Rockin J Hustle N Spin to a score of 142 & second place in both the Non-Pro Futurity & the Intermediate Non-Pro Futurity.

Youth 14 to 18 Years Reining State Champions were Onya Amberlin & Wade Powell.

The Limited Non-Pro State Champions were Tell Me A Story & Shelley Peters.

Patch Me Doc & Lexie Bastable put their talents to the test in the Limited Non-Pro.

Ivy Thomson's Big River Spannerintheworks was ridden into fourth place in the Open Futurity by Shaun Saunders.

A score of 149 saw second place in the Open Futurity go to Anita Ganzer's Rocin On The Ranch ridden by Warren Backhouse.

Mick Taylor rode Miss Little Step into third place in both the Non-Pro Futurity & the Intermediate Non-Pro Futurity.

The Freestyle Reining State Championship went to Mingolena & Kathy Murphy who performed an interesting CSI-themed routine. Here, Kathy puts on her rubber gloves prior to inspecting "the corpse" while Mingolena lopes small slow circles around said victim.

Even with his unusual stopping style, Gambel To Win got the job done well enough for jockey Darren Simpson to land fourth placing in the Intermediate Open.

Docs Leo Tivio carried Grace Christoffel to the State Championship in the Youth 13 Years & Under Reining.

Scott Sutton rode T & K Dickinson's A Custom Chex into second place in the Intermediate Open Futurity.

Wade Powell rode Onya Wotshername into third place in the Youth 14 to 18 Years Reining.

The Reserve State Champions of the Youth 14 to 18 Years Reining were Playgirls Whiz & Greer Campbell.

Avril Storey rode Hugs Dancer into third place in the Intermediate Non-Pro Futurity & fouth place in the Non-Pro Futurity.
