2013 Gold Coast Show

Riley Kent and LANGTREE DIGNIFY had a great first day of showing taking out the Supreme Champion Local Hack & Supreme Local Rider.

Renee Edwards had a lovely 1st day of showing with KT COVERGIRL taking out the Supreme Champion Led Local Hack award.

Tom Lenihan took out the Supreme Champion Horse in Harness with ROSE-AIR TRADE FAIR with help from his daughter Elizabeth who was the groom for the day.

Supreme Champion Miniature GRANDCHESTER VIEWS TINKERBELL was exhibited by Lorrie McNeill pictured with judge Maree Evans.

Winner of the Part Bred Gypsy Cob Under Saddle class was Katy Driver riding CABOONBAH COMMANDING OFFICER. It was an emotional occasion for Katy who was told after a serious accident whilst mustering in 2007 that she would never walk again, to actually riding at the Gold Coast Show was overwhelming.

Susan Paine and TREMAYNE ROYAL EXHIBIT working out to win the Champion Novice Galloway.

A very grown up Chelsea Taunton rode her MONDISO PARK ITS ALL ABOUT ME to win Champion Small Pony.

SPIN A DREAM exhibited by Sandy Johnson was awarded Supreme Champion Pinto.

Judges Maryanne McMahon-Bullpitt, Mark Kenzig & Alex Berwick looked to be enjoying themselves at the Gold Coast Show with great Queensland weather for the duration of the show.

Rebekah Baxter rode the well performed DAISY PATCH CHOIR BOY to win the Champion Galloway.

Amanda O'Sullivan had every reason to smile with her wonderful success story from this year's Show with DICAVALI ROYAL GEORGIO taking out the Supreme Champion Hack and today taking out the Supreme Champion Led Horse of the Show receiving $1,000 as part of the prize, after other major wins during the 3 days.

SPRING VALE SMOKEY exhibited by T.Rhodes was awarded Supreme Heavy Horse by judge Gail Iskra from Qld.

BAMBOROUGH MONTAGUE ridden by Riley Kent was awarded the Champion Show Hunter Pony.

Supreme Champion Show Hunter JL COUNTRY CHARM ridden by Kayla Webb was sashed by 2013 Miss Showgirl SEQ Sophia Harris and Gold Coast Runner Up Miss Showgirl Bianca Calder.

Champion Lady Rider Georgia Fairweather & friend Kirsty Williams who also won her Rider class, both rode SMITHFIELD DANTE. Georgia just visiting from Switzerland where she attends finishing school and Kirsty who work at a local Riding Academy have become good friends.

Working out to win Supreme Champion Friesian YASPAR VAN GELDER exhibited by Crystal Michaux.

Kody McAvoy had a great weekend taking out the Local Champion Gent Rider and then the Supreme Champion Rider the following day.

The Gold Coast Show Society Horse Committee were able to still find smiles today even though feeling very sad that this would be their last Show ever to be held at the beautiful grounds at Parklands. Another location has still not been determined to carry on the Show in future years but the move being attributed to the Olympics being held at the Gold Coast in 2018 and the showgrounds will take on a whole new look with accommodation being built for the athletes village. With bulldozers moving into the grounds to demolish all buildings in the next few weeks, the Parklands will be totally transformed. The Horse Committee have worked together for many years making the Gold Coast Show Horse events a great success each year. It was a mutual sadness that I also felt today with this being my final event that I will be attending and my final report for Horse Deals after many years.

Winner of the Mitavite Foxhunter Showjumping Contest was Courtney Hopkins who recently moved down to Southern Qld from Gladstone, riding PAVAROTTI'S GIRL. Courtney also had success at the recent Brisbane Royal Show.

The Champion Arabian Pony was awarded to WORANORA NINJA shown by Christian Rebsdorf.

Scott Heidke and NAVEEB PALE FACE working out to win the ASH & Gentleman Rider class.

Sue McCoombes from Uplands Stud took out the Supreme Dartmoor Exhibit with her MOORLANDA SPRINGBOK.

Isabella Cross-Winston rode her HOLLY'S SIGNET to win Champion Ridden Riding Show Pony to finish off her day's success.

Ally Heidke was delighted with her gelding MEMPHIS taking out the Champion Led Thoroughbred Gelding after also winning the award at Brisbane Royal recently and then taking out the Champion Ridden Thoroughbred later today.

BORDERSHOW THE TEMPTER working out to win Supreme Champion Australian Saddle Pony Exhibit shown by Amanda Woods and owned by S. Moroney.

Courtney Rabjones made an appearance in the ring again today leading Mike & Greg Smith's ROKEWOOD CHARLESTON who took out the Reserve Champion Led Part Welsh Exhibit.

The very successful Thoroughbred Stallion REGAL BANQUET ridden by Jane Anderson made a debut into the showring today taking out the Reserve Champion Thoroughbred Under Saddle and the ANSA Stallion Under Saddle class. He also took out the Supreme Led Thoroughbred Exhibit again this year.

Caitlin Senter rode ELVONARA PARK CANDYMAN to win the Reserve Champion Ridden Welsh.
