On a cold and wet Melbourne night, the Arabian Junior Halter classes and Costume events were conducted from 7pm until a time tabled close of 11.45pm. The first event was the inaugural perpetual Avondale Trophy for a yearling purebred Arabian bred by a resident Victorian. The inaugural winner was Vaya (Shakla's Fame N Fortune x Avondale Special) shown by Kate Dertell and exhibited by Krishlah Arabians and Future Farms.
