Darwin Royal Show 2009

Mike Shaw is an experienced and good stockman riding many horses attending his 6000 head of Brahman cattle on the Shaw's large station on the NT/WA boarder. However, riding hacks and competing in rider classes is a new experience that he is really enjoying.

Kate Naga riding Minichant Surrender had penalties faults in the Pony Club D Grade AM3.

Rain Smit riding Bouncing Sam Jago by Space Cadet, jumped clear then had four penalties to place fourth in the Pony Club D Grade AM3. They followed this with a third place in the D Grade Take Your Own Line.

Lauren McKenzie and Tom Tom had another good day winning both the D Grade Pony Club AM3 and Take Your Own Line.

Samantha Careeg riding Seeling SC jumped clear and then had four penalties to place third in the D Grade Pony Club AM3 and later took second place in the D Grade Take Your Own Line..

Jessica Fallas rode Asham Celtic Lass to post a double clear round for second place in the Pony Club D Grade AM3.

Chloe Kleine and Jokara Chantal competed in the E Pony Club Grade AM3.

Shannon Florance rode Yarrols Bindi Bandi to win the E Grade Pony Club Take Your Own Line.

Sarah Lock and Rastus competed in the E Grade Pony Club Showjumping.

Sally Shaw rode Willowcroft Blackjack to second place in the Equestrian NT Rider Under 18 years.Sally went on to be declared Reserve Champion Rider Under 14.

William Shaw had a good day riding Little Paddocks Concerto collecting a few more ribbions to add to his tally.

Annie Simmons rode Maytime Chantel to third place in the Equestrian NT Rider under 18 years.

Grace Simmons rode Cindy Busse's, Rahma Park Shah of the Nile to win the Anita Flockhart Memorial prize for the Best Boy or Girl rider under 13 years and Champion Girl or Boy Rider under 14 years.

Erin Tunney rode Rise Above, to win the Boy/Girl Rider 16 years and under 18 years.

Madina Haymon from Katherine was pleased to be delared Champion Boy/Girl Rider 14 and under 18 years.

Madelyn Farrington from Katherine rode This Gal Is Cool to second place in the Boy/Girl Rider 14 and under 16 years and went on to be declared Reserve Champion Boy/Girl Rider 14 and under 18 years.

Cindy Busse from Alice Springs rode Rahma Park Shah of the Nile to win the Lady/Gent Rider 35 years and over.

Jenny Watts rode Joan of Ark to win the Lady/Gent Rider 25 to 35 years.

Megan Cheeseman from Victoria made her first trip to Darwin Royal to contest her riding classes. Megan rode the Shaw Family's Story to second place in the Lady/Gent rider 18 and under 25 years.

Dale Webster rode Bloomfield Kalinga to Reserve Champion Lady/Gent Rider .

Rachael Pen-Dennis who amongst other classes won the 18-25 Rider class, was thrilled to be declared Supreme Champion Rider of Darwin Royal Show. Rachael is pictured with judges, Shelley Penny from Victoria and Fiona Fehlberg from Tasmania.

Matt Deverome has just returned from a trip to South Africa playing polocross. Today Matt rode the Australian Stock Horse, Dollar, for the Noonamah team. Matt is such a wonderful athlete and horseman that he is a huge asset to any team.

Gemma Crighton has the desire to ride at every Royal Show in Australia as her father, Guy did many years ago. With Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney ticked off the list, Gemma headed to Darwin to ride Adrienne Simmons', 18hh Warmblood, Nekarbo Elvis. Gemma is showing all of the telent her father displayed as a catch rider, winning the D Grade 1.10m Open.

Simone Seidel rode her cute Australian Stock horse/Warmblood Secret Account to win the D Grade 1m.

Elizabeth Jacob and her careful Thoroughbred, Flash Henry had three time penalties in the D Grade 1m. I think they spent too much time in the air.

Emily Palmer and Foxwood Imperial Crown jumped well for second place in the D Grade 1.10m AM3
