Leah Read and 'Peptocat' are one of the fancied combinations competing in the Landmark Open Challenge at the eleventh Annual Curley Cattle Transport Horse of the North. With the popularity of Campdrafting, the organisers of the Horse of the North in Charters Towers thought it a good idea to have a competition that showcased the necessary training to make a successful drafter. The competitors in every section demonstrate their dry work and tomorrow they get to put that work into action during the Cattle section.

Nathan Wilson scored a 74.5 riding Darrin jones', 'Mechanic' in the MAGS Droughtmasters Horse of the North Classic Challenge. The Classic for five year old horses is the richest event at the Horse of the North this year with $4,000 and a Jamie Hansen Trophy Saddle going to the winner.

Local rider, Matt Stanger rode the Rhondhu Stud's, 'Rhondhu Smart As Hell' to score a good 84.5 in the Dry Work section of the MAGS Droughtmasters Horse of the North Classic Challenge.

With everyone's eyes "Up and Ahead", Shelley Taylor rode her, 'Boonara Damsel' for a score of 79 in the Bolt N Fodder Shop Rookie Challenge Dry Work section. The score from today is added to the Cattle work score tomorrow to determine the Rookie, Beginner and Junior winners.
