London 2012 Olympic Games - Eventing

Thai rider, Nina Ligon made a good Olympic debut riding her, 'Butts Leon' to finish the Eventing competition in 41st place. It was a great achievement to finish 21 to start did not.

Italian Individual Stefano Brecciaroli jumped a beautiful fence riding the talented, 'Apollo WD Wendi Kurt Hoeve' was a little disappointed to incur 11 and four jumping penalties in the two showjumping rounds. They finished in 19th place.

New Zealand claimed the Team Bronze Medal and Team Member, Joelle Richards is pictured in the jumping phase making a lovely jump aboard , 'Flintstar'.

William Fox-Pitt rode, 'Lionheart' for British Team Silver. He produced a clear round in the Team jumping competition and finished in 27th place.

New Zealand team horse, 'Lenamore' received a Bronze Medal for his 20th birthday, as when he was jumping at Greenwich Park it was already August 1st, the Southern Hemisphere official birthday for horses in New Zealand. The super Irish bred gelding by Sea Crest jumped a four penalty team round and finished in 29th place Individually.

Sweden took fourth place in the Teams competition and Malin Petersen riding, 'Sofarsogood' demonstrate how they did it with this impressive jump.

German Team member, Dirk Schrade jumped clear for the Team riding 'King Artus' and finished the Individual competition in 26th place with 50.60 penalties.

Irish Team Member, Mark Kyle is pictured aboard his attractive Irish gelding, Coolio by Ghareeb. They jumped four and clear in the two jumping efforts for 21st place Individually.

USA Team Member, Tiana Coudray makes a lovely jump during the Team Showjumping phase riding the Irish bred Master gelding, 'Ringwood Magister'.

Australian team member, Lucinda Fredericks jumped a good Team Showjumping round riding the talented, 'Flying Finish' for just one time penalty. Australia finished in sixth place and Lucinda 35th.

Team Silver Medallist, Zara Phillips rode her , 'High Kingdom' for seven penalties in the Team showjumping round and was clear in the Individual round to finish her first Olympic Games in eighth place. After the Team competition, the top 25 go forward to a further jumping round to determine the Individual Medallists. The penalties are cumulative.

Joseph Murphy was a member of the fifth placed Irish Team. He rode the Cruising gelding, 'Electric Cruise' to add just 4.80 cross country time penalties to his dressage score to finish in 14th place Individually with 60.40.

US Team Member, Karen O'Connor rode , 'Mr Medicott' to finish the best of the USA contingent at ninth individually on 53.90. The US Team finished in seventh place.

Andrew Hoy at his seventh Olympics finished the best of the Australian contingent to take 13th place riding , 'Rutherglen' with 57.30 penalties.

New Zealand Team Bronze Medallist, Andrew Nicholson finished the Individual competition in a heartbreaking fourth place. He rode 'Nereo' for a clear round in the Team jumping and a costly four penalties in the Individual decider.

Swedish Team member, Sara Algotsson-Ostholt earned the first Equestrian medal for Sweden in 40 years when she took Individual Silver riding her home bred mare, 'Wega' by Irco Mena 763. In the lead going in to the final Individual jumping phase Sara and Wega went clear until the very last fence when they lost the Gold Medal with the late fall of the back rail of the oxer..

Beijing Individual and Team Bronze Medallist , Kristina Cook missed her chance of an Individual medal when 'Miners Frolic' lowered two fences in the Individual jumping round. They finished in sixth place with and helped Great Britain take the Silver Medal.51.00.

Ingrid Klimke and her much loved, 'Butts Abraxxas' jumped an eight penalty Team jumping round to help Germany claim the Team Gold Medal. It was back to back Olympic Gold Medals for the talented Klimke. She chose not to start "Braxxie' in the Individual jumping round and finished in 25th place Individually.

Canadian Team Member, Jessica Phoenix makes a lovely jump riding her talented Thoroughbred gelding, 'Exponential'. They finished in 22nd place with 29.20. Canada finished in 13th place in the Teams competition.

French Team member, Lionel Guyon took 24th place Individually riding , 'Nemetis De Lalou' . The French team finished in eighth place.

Phillip Dutton is pictured riding the Australian bred, 'Mystery Whisper' for team USA. They did not produce that round that was hoped for and finished in 23rd place Individually..

Swedish Team Member, Niklas Lundback helped the Swedish Team take a good fourth Team Place riding his experienced, 'Mr Pooh'. They are pictured during the final jumping phase and finished the Olympic competition in 18th place Individually.

Italian Individual, Vittoria Panizzon commented that her horse 'Borough Penny Z' loved jumping. And we think Vittoria loves it too from this picture. The Cevin Z mare finish in eleventh place (up from 47) Individually with two clear jumping rounds.

Ireland took fifth place in the Team competition and Aoife Clark looked impressive throughout the competition, going clear in both the Team and Individual jumping tests riding the Irish bred , 'Master Crusoe'. They finished in seventh place and were the best of the Irish Team.

Australian Team member, Christopher Burton jumped four and 12 in the two jumping tests to finish his first Olympic Games in 16th place riding the Lander mare, 'HP Leilani'..

German Team Member, Sandra Auffarth impressed all through the Eventing competition, adding just 4.80 cross country time penalties to claim the Individual Bronze medal with 44.80 riding , 'Opgun Louvo' by Shogoun II.

British legend, Mary King competing at her seventh Olympics jumped clear for the Team, riding 'Cavalier Royale' but sadly slipped from medal contention with two down in the second round of jumping to determine the Individual Medals. Mary finished in fifth place with 50.10 penalties.

Michael Jung rides beautifully, perhaps the secret to his success, is picture in action riding 'Sam' to claim the Individual Gold Medal and help Germany claim Team Gold.

Michael Jung created history today by claiming Individual Eventing Gold riding the wonderful 'Sam' by the Thoroughbred, Stan The Man. Jung and Sam are World Champions, European Champions and now Olympic Champions. They finished on their dressage score , 40.60.
