Mackay and District Pacific Coast Arabian Show Results
Mackay and District Pacific Arabian Show was held on 16th and 17th October 2021 at the Maryborough Showgrounds equestrian park.
This wonderful relaxed, family fun weekend is run by the Mackay and District Arabian Group. Wendy and her team put together a really fantastic show that helps to promote the youth and amateur competitors to come along and have a lot of fun with their horses.
Friday night started off with a BBQ get together and catch up for those people who have arrived early and want to catch up.
Saturday’s program started off with a quality line up of derivatives in the halter ring and included – Anglo, Partbred, Arabian Pony, Arabian Riding Pony, Quarab, Half Arabian and API. Lovely to see the non pro competitors competing in open classes as well again this year.
Our open ring judge was Colleen Rutherford who did a fantastic job selecting her winners and offering up how she selected these horses, this was a really good insight.

The junior ring had plenty of smiles and talented youngsters happy to show off their skills and ringcraft. Our future horsewomen were on display and showed wonderful manners and sportsmanship throughout the morning. The judge in this ring was Doug Rutherford who always had a ready smile and encouraging comments for the riders.

The purebred horses came out after lunch under saddle and worked beautifully with some really nice workouts on display. The supreme winner was a popular choice.

The night program is always so popular with great music and horses strutting their stuff in the freestyle ridden and liberty classes. Plenty of toe tapping and great workouts.

Sunday is a fun day with the purebreds showing off in the halter classes in the morning, always quality horses presented and lovely to see kind, gentle handling with more natural poses in the open and non pro classes at this show.

The derivative horses came out under saddle and we saw some close competition in these classes. Lovely to see a range of horses and riders also competing in these classes. A super workout by the eventual winner of the supreme garland.

Don’t forget to pop next years date into your calendar 10th and 11th September 2022, it’s a great time to bring a youngster or dust off your cobwebs and get back into showing if you have had a break. Come along for a friendly family weekend away, we would love to see you. Plenty of classes and everyone is welcome.
