Joanne Robson rode ROYAL CHAPEL to win the 2012 Champion Hack and was awarded the Verdun Smith Memorial Trophy by Verdun's daughter Barbara. Verdun was Ringmaster for the North Coast National and even when he retired from the position, still maintained a strong interest in the show attending to assist where he could.

The Invitation Draft was run over the 3 nights of the show and upon conclusion of the final night with all accrued points tallied, the Overall Winner of the Draft was Michael Thomas who rode SHOWTIME.
The Tent Pegging Demonstration was a crowd pleaser each evening as riders used their lance to target items in the ring and sometimes galantly riding with a small sword in their mouths and a long lance in their hand, presenting a few anxious moments for the spectators.
