My Smilin Assassin (Sire; Chandon Dam; Lumbo Blosson) which won 12 races, was awarded Reserve Champion Standardbred Stallion or Colt. Exhibited by Kristy Padberg, My Smilin Assassin is just returning to the show ring after a major operation to remove a piece of wire from his jaw bone. It is thought the horse ate the wire in some hay, the wire travelled under the horses tongue and lodged in the jaw bone.
Admiral's Christmas (Sire; Admirals Halsey Dam; Majestic Mine) which had 16 race starts for 8 wins and 4 placings, was awarded Supreme Champion Standardbred for the fourth consecutive year. Now fifteen years old, Admiral is not ridden due to a fractured knee, which was not picked up as a young horse and he did all his racing with the injury. You would not know the horse has any underlying fault with his clean legs.
Leonie Morronie led her daughter, Kristie's horse, Adina Park Phedora to win the Best presented Standardbred.
