A dramatic turn of events at Dressage and Jumping With The Stars this year saw the Star, Monica Theodorescu stricken with a bout of flu and unable to conduct her Masterclass on Saturday. That was indeed bad enough, but poor Monica is due to fly out on Monday and prepare for the World Cup Final in Las Vegas. She will need to improve considerably before she is able to fly. We all hope she makes a speedy recovery. Meanwhile as luck indeed would have it, Danish Dressage rider and trainer and member of the Danish Team at Sydney, Lone Jorgensen was in the audience. An absolute trooper, she stepped into the breach and conducted an enjoyable Masterclass.

Gitte Donvig won the five Year Old class last year with 'Shiraz Black' and went on to be declared Champions of Champions Young Dressage Horse. Rob and Mary Hanna's stunning Sandro Hit Stallion won the six Year Old Championship this year and also took out the Champion of Champions.

Judy Peel with her Australian bred and home produced Grand Prix horse, 'Sunbury Lodge Playwright' by Donnerheist. It was wonderful to see Di Jenkyn's former Australian Grand Prix Champion, 'Snowy River Blackwood ' back in the dressage arena in partnership with Grand Prix newcomer, Lydia Jackson (Lawrence). Lydia has been a successful Three Star event rider and could have in Blackwood not better partner to learn the Grand Prix ropes. At 18 or indeed at any age, Blackwood looks like a show hack and a credit to his new owners. They are pictured during the Grand Prix Freestyle.
There are those who think Dr Kerry Mack's 'Mayfield Pzazz' is the best Grand Prix horse in the country. We are not going to argue.. He is correct, soft and willing and don't forget beautiful. Guest Young Horse judge, Dr Ulf Muller commented that he was pleased to see the former Champion of Champions Young Horse looking so good at Grand Prix, as "that was what it was all about". Kerry was second in the Freestyle with 65.85%.
Brett Parbery demonstrated all he and Carolyn Lieutenant's 'Victory Salute' had learnt during their stay in Europe last year. The elegant big horse that competed at the Paraolympics on his way back to Australia, has mark grabbing passage/piaffe and the whole picture just looked so assured and confident. They won the Grand Prix with 67.75% and the Grand Prix Freestyle with 74.10%.
