At the Reining Australia Championships this year, the first Michelle Halliwell Memorial Non Pro event was conducted and run concurrently with the Open and Prime Time Non Pro. Michelle, who was passionate supporter of Reining, lost her battle with cancer five months ago. Michelle's husband Cameron had two horses in the event, and after producing a good run on his young horse, Lil Pus went off pattern in the final movement. He then came out last, riding OP Finally Dunit, the horse Michelle rode to win the 2009 Limited Non Pro. He went for broke with the crowd encouraging him all the way and posted the highest score of the day, 148 to win the class. Cameron Halliwell had a great show with his three horses. Eariler in the day he rode his Lil Pus to take second place in the Open Derby with a score of 145. He then rode his 2010 winning home bred Non-Pro Futurity horse, Ruf Cut by Ruf Major (IMP) to take fourth place in the tough Open Futurity with scored of 141 and 143.5 (the best score of the second round).

It is always a pleasure to watch a "master" at work, Martin Larcombe shows his beautifully prepared horses to their full advantage. Martin rode Mick Taylor's, Onya Wozza to post scores of 143.5 and 142.5 to take the 2010 Open Futurity Title. Before heading overseas Martin also won this title in 1994 and 1995.
