2012 Royal Sydney Easter Show

Sheridan Manuel from Queensland jumped one of just two Section 1 first round clears aboard his mother, Lisa Manuel's colourful, Renmarno' and went on to take second place.

Jono Berry did not jump a Section 1 clear round riding Kerrie Winning's Quick Star stallion, 'Quincy Z'. From this photograph it looks as if the beautiful, imported stallion would not lay toe to a fence.

Reigning NSW Miss Show Girl, Hilary Scott must be the first ever incumbent Showgirl to win a Section 1 class at Sydney Royal. Hilary is pictured aboard her mother, Alice Cameron's imported mare, 'Oaks Miss Scarlet' that jumped two beautiful clear rounds to take out the class. This combination won the Tonimbuk World Cup Qualifier last December and they look as if they are heading towards a sensations season.

Glen lee ASH Stud principal, David Wilson is pictured with Matthew Clarke's typey four year old 'Glen Lee Mosses Mercury' (Barona Hornet/Mosses Gem) that was declared Reserve Champion Australian Stock Horse Stallion/Colt.

Just moments after Chris Chugg and the Australian Sporthorse Breeders' Indoctro mare, 'Alondra' jumped this fence the bit broke and Chris was literally let with a bit in each hand. After a little adjustment Chris and Alondra jumped as couple of bitless fences on the way out. Earlier in the competition Chris jumped clear with one time penalty aboard the Diamond B Stud's Vivant mare, 'Diamond B Vigo' that took third place in the Section 1 class.

Jackie Long led the beautiful four year old mare, 'First Impressions' by Lindsay out of the super Cee Dee Sonata and exhibited by Ivery Park, Kirala Stud and the Emery Family to be declared Champion Mare and Supreme Led Australian Stock Horse.

Jackie Long is having a sensational day in the Australian Stock Horse ring. Jackie opened her account by claiming the Best ASH Gelding Award with her own, Ivery Park and Kathy Tizard's, three year old, 'Wirracoo Bandit' (Washpool Bandit/Timor Bow Royal).

Paul Bandy, the Equine Manager at the Yanka Agricultural High School led his two year old colt, 'Rayma Regards' (Daleford Regards/Rayma China Doll) to be declared Champion Australian Stock Horse Stallion/Colt.

Heater Gorey is pictured aboard her own and Lisa Beard's, 'Maybah Cristalle' (Kooralyn Gordost/Maybah Gabrielle) during the huge ASHLA class this afternoon. With all the arena to themselves, the Stock Horse ladies made the most of the opportunity.

Sam Davidge from Temora in NSW rode her wonderful stallion, 'Jindalee Casanova' (Better View Gunfire/Rosebrook Cillawood) to second place in the very strong ASHLA class this afternoon.

Jade Jones-Ryan is pictured aboard Leslie Walsh's 'Moreland Park Ozzie' (Werombi Pines Sir Bistro/Currawong Crystal) in the strong ASHLA class this afternoon.

Teena Bridge rode her own and Karen Miles' beautiful, 'Cee Dee Bracelette' (Waikon Park Coolibah/Jindaria Ringlette) to claim the ASHLA class this afternoon and with it the Ian Armstrong Perpetual Trophy. It was noted that this was Teena's 50th Royal Sydney Show. "I am not old" commented Teena, "I just started very young"!

Amy Wilson is pictured on the move in the ASHLA class with her own beautiful, 'Falconhurst Rivoli Repartee' (Glen Lee Rivoli Ray Tech/Vet School Rivoli Wendy).

Ashley Whiting is another that looks as if she is heading towards the finish line. Ashley is pictured riding her own and K Lammi's 'Koarlos First Lady' (Todds Morton/Cleo Bay) in the strong ASHLA class on the first afternoon of the 2012 Royal Easter Show.

Brittany Heatherington had a great advantage in the ASHLA class this afternoon,she was riding Paul and Julie Wardell's super stallion, 'Knights Jugaby' (Warrenbri Romeo/Kasavina). They took third place in the strong class and Brittany was declared Highest Placed Novice Rider.

Not only has Sydney Royal adopted a new look, thanks to the Greater Western Sydney AFL Club, they have also adopted an up to date result system. RAS Councillor, Charlie Hooke demonstrates how the results now get to the Ringmaster's and Brodcast Box. The Green Coats galloping to the window with a slip of paper is a thing of the past. Now the results are emailed via an ipad in all rings.

Tom Lenihan from Queensland trots past the new screen on the main arena. Tom took fourth place in the class for Non Hackney Pony Turnout 12.2-14hh driving his and Pat Lenihan's, 'Roseair Trade Fair'. The new screen for results and replay etc is the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere and is four times the size of the original screen.

Lucky first! Emma Smith had the privilege of being the first to jump a fence at the 2012 show. She is pictured making a spectacular jump aboard her father, Geoff Smith's Camelot Ego Z stallion, 'Casablanca' on her way to winning the first Section 2 class of the show.

Tom Mc Dermott has six horses at Sydney and he is pictured making a beautiful jump aboard the Tripp Family's super, imported mare, 'Romantic Dream' that took third place in the first Section 2 class of the show.

Well known, successful and popular jumping trainer and rider, George Johnson is pictured during the first round of the first Section 2 class of the show riding his own and Kate Wallace's, 'Wondaree Sprite'.

Super successful and young New Zealand jumping rider, Katie McVean has livened up the start list at Sydney this year. Katie is pictured during the first round of the Section 2 class riding her, Dunstan Zimorena'. Katie had her NZ HOTY Olympic Cup winner, Dunstan Daffodil entered in the Section 1 class this aafternoon, but sadly they did not start. We hope all is well and hope to see them later in the show.

Sharon Slater makes a beautiful jump aboard her imported Lux gelding, 'CP Ulixes', (he arrived a stallion) on their way to fourth place in the Section 2 class this morning.

Regular and long time Sydney Royal exhibitor, Maureen Pengelly from Tarneit in Victoria got her show off to a great start early on the first morning of the 2012 Show. Maureen drove her own and Maryanne Pengelly's charming, 'Ovwendale Apricot' to win the class for Non Hackney Pony Turnout N/E 12.2hh.

The elegant combination of Warren Barlow from Bowral and the Barlow Family's, 'Dunnolly Nicoli' are pictured during the Hackney Pony 12.2-14hh Vehicle T/O competition. The harness class got under way first up this morning and continue almost until the very end of the show in two weeks time.

Popular and successful, judge rider and trainer, Teena Bridge is pictured with her own and David Morgan's, 'Barnetts Pandora' (Kirkby's Stud Theo/Barnetts Gem) that won the class for Australian Stock Horse Mare Four Years and Over/Over 15hh.

Always a pleasure to watch; Vince Corvi drove his own and Terry Cowan's beautiful, 'Ashwood Celeste' to win the class for Hackney Pony Show Vehicle Turnout N/E 12.2hh.

Amanda Madigan opened the Section 1 jumping programme riding the Oaks Sporthorses' imported Darco mare, 'Oakes Altes'.
