WEG: Official Horse Deals Coverage Week 1

3003 Eventing World Cup winner, Linda Algotsson from Sweden rode her super successful 20 year old Swedish Warmblood, 'Stand By Me' to take provisional eighth place after the first half of the Eventing dressage with 45.50 penalties.

Paul Tapner got the Australian Team off to a great start scoring a 43.80 in the Eventing dressage phase this morning riding his 2010 Badminton winner, 'Inonothing'. At the halfway mark they are in fifth place.

Former Australian, Boyd Martin, now riding for the USA rode his 'Neville Bardos' to score 49.40 for provisional 14th place after half the filed of 80 had completed their dressage.

German Team member, Dirk Schrade rode the French Anglo Arab, 'Gadget de la Cere' got her reigning World Champions off to a good start with a score of 42.50 and provisional fourth place.

International Eventing legend, Mark Todd opened the account of the New Zealand Team. He rode the Irish Sport Horse, 'Grass Valley' by Legal Pressure out of a Clover Hill mare to hold provisional 13th place after day one of the Eventing dressage with a score of 48.50.

Riding as an individual for Australia, US based Peter Atkins rode his beautiful former Hunter Jumper, 'Henry Jota Hampton' to score 61.80 in the dressage phase of the World Eventing Championships.

New Zealand individual, Jonathan Paget got his event off to a good start scoring 44.00 for provisional sixth place riding the New Zealand Thoroughbred, 'Clifton Promise'.

Although experiencing a sever drought, Kentucky is a beautiful state. The grass might not be as blue as usual, but it is amazing horse country with plenty of established treed and miles and miles and miles of beautiful post and rail fencing, with hardly a square corner in sight.

First out in the final of 21, Australia's Warren Backhouse produced his best run riding Kaitlin Townsend's 'Whizs Bronze Star'. They scored 216.5 for 13th place. That's 13th place in the World and on a borrowed horse. It was an impressive performance from the popular Queensland rider.

Dutch rider, Hubertus Heule rode 'Chrome Shiner' for a score of 211.5 and 19th place in the Reining Individual Final.

Sweden's Fredrik Thomsson rode 'Gallos Stylish Star' by Gallo del Cielo to score 213.5 for 17th place in the Individual Reining World Championship.

British cowboy, Lee Rutter rode Rosanne Sternberg's 'Setting Off Sparks' to score 215 for 15th place in the final of the Individual World Reining Championship.

Carla Brown's 'Top Prize Prince' was a little flat for Australian Individual finalist, Martin Larcombe. Having produced a great run to make the final run off, they ended in 19th place with a score of 211.5. It was a tremendous effort for Australia to have two finalists in a debut WEG Reining appearance. What could they do with their own horses.

Stuart Tinney produced a good Team Test riding Kathy Ward's 'Vettori'. With half the field having completed the dressage phase, Stuart sits in 12th place with 47.20.

2008 WEG Individual Champion, Duane Latimer had to settle for the Bronze medal this year. He rode Lance Griffin's 'Dun Playin Tag' to score 222.5.

The USA earned Team Gold and today Tom McCutcheon took the Individual Gold Medal with a spectacular run riding Sarah Willeman's six year old stallion, 'Gunners Special Nite' by Colonels Smoking Gun out of an Milfillena mare.

This is rather a spectacular shot of Italian combination, Steffano Massignan and 'Yellow Jersey' , but the six year old Wimpy's Little Step stallion could not produce the form that saw him qualify for the Individual final in second place. They finished 18th with 213.

Trevor Dare had the full house cheering as he did some acrobatics at full gallop before coming to a sliding stop in the freestyle reining display.

Josh Armstrong from New Mexico was very impressive doing his full pattern in the freestyle reining display with both hands on his gun..

Team Gold medalist and Individual Broze medalis in Aachen, Aaron Ralston put on a good display bareback in the freestyle reining.

Anky Van Grunsven was the final act in the evening of Freestyle Reining. She rode to the music from West Side Story and was a huge hit with the capacity crowd.
