The Mullan Family may not have cornered the market on good looking Standardbreds, but they do seem to have plenty. Kathleen Mullan is pictured with the beautiful Supreme Led Standardbred, 'MF Hollywood' (P Forty-Seven imp USA/Late Tiffany). The four year old raced three times with little success and Kathleen quickly snapped him up for a show career. Whittlesea was his first show.
Demonstrating some great movement, the Standardbred, 'Deep Diver' would put many Warmbloods to shame. The 19 year old was a successful racehorse, winning $38,000, including Metro wins. Since his retirement he has taken the show world by storm and has been successful under saddle. He was Champion Ridden Standardbred (a tough class) at the 2011 Melbourne Summer Royal. Owner and driver, Lisa Veitch explained that Deep Diver had done it all, Showing, Pony Club, HRCAV, Endurance and Trail Rides. Until today he had not been shown in harness and it was no surprise that he was declared Champion Harness Standardbred.
Whittlesea Show, the biggest two day show in Victoria retains it's agricultural roots. There was plenty for the farmer and hobby farmer on show, as well as cattle, sheep, Alpacas etc. Nick Suter, Managing Director of Ironbark Machinery explains the benefits of the Ironbark 400 farm vehicle to some of the many interested show goers.
