6yo (rising 7) 16.1hh Warmblood x Thoroughbred Mare
Indie has been purpose bred for eventing in the European way, being by the thoroughbred stallion Sea Lion xx and out of Klassik Percynality whose lines include Furioso, Ramiro Z and Inspiration. Sea Lion himself competed to 5* level eventing.
Indie is a lovely light and elegant type that will excel in a competitive home. She has been brought along slowly by her amateur owner, giving her time to grow and develop strength. She has three quality paces and works nicely into the contact. Her basic lateral work (leg yield, shoulder in) is established. She has an excellent work ethic and constantly tries to do what is asked.
Indie is quite straightforward to jump, being careful, brave and has plenty of scope. She is also very forgiving of a not perfect distance. She has competed up to 105 and would step up this season if her owner’s circumstances hadn’t changed.
Whilst she hasn’t competed eventing (due to her owner preferring show jumping), she has extensively schooled cross country and has no issues with any fences including water and ditches. She also regularly trail rides and loves the variety.
Whilst she’s quite an easy going mare, she is bred to be athletic, forward and on the more sensitive side (ie likes light aids). As a result she would be best suited to a rider with soft hands and a balanced seat. She would be too much horse for a junior moving off a pony, but would be very suitable for either a confident older teen, or an adult.
She floats and trucks well, is good for farrier and to clip etc. Happily stands in the yards at shows all weekend.
She is very sadly for sale due to a change in her owner’s personal circumstances. It is most important to her owner that she finds Indie her perfect person. As such she is priced very reasonably for her quality at $15,000.
