In a move set to redefine the understanding of Australia's equine sector, the Australian Horse Industry Council (AHIC) has teamed up with leading research agency IER to conduct a first-of-its-kind study on the size and scope of the horse industry in Australia.
This groundbreaking research will provide a comprehensive and independent assessment of the true scale of the non-racing equine sector across the nation.
For the first time, Australia's horse industry will have an economic profile based on concrete data, shedding light on its substantial impact on local economies, employment, and communities.
The findings will not only quantify the economic contribution of the industry but also highlight its far-reaching social benefits, such as community building, volunteerism, family engagement, and the role horses play in fostering social networks.
Uncovering the true value of Australia's horse industry
While the horse industry has long been an integral part of Australian life, the true scale of its impact has remained largely unknown.
This new research aims to fill that gap by delivering an up-to-date and robust report that reflects the industry's economic and social importance.
"We believe this study will provide valuable insights that will help position the Australian equine sector for continued growth," says Mark Burnell, President of the Australian Horse Industry Council.
"This report will be a key tool in advocating for the horse industry with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and the wider public."
Your voice matters: Complete the survey
To ensure the study is as comprehensive and accurate as possible, AHIC are inviting horse owners and riders from across Australia to participate in a nationwide survey.
The survey aims to capture a detailed picture of horse ownership, the costs involved, and the many ways the equine sector enriches Australian communities.
The survey covers important aspects of horse ownership, from the financial commitments to the social and recreational benefits that come with it.
Whether you own one horse or are part of a larger equine operation, your input will help shape the future of the horse industry in Australia.
Prizes for participation
To encourage broad participation, AHIC is offering an exciting incentive. All survey participants will have an opportunity to win one of five $500 gift cards.
It's a win-win: contribute to an important industry report and potentially take home a great prize!
Don't miss out - survey closes November 25
The survey will remain available until November 25. Horse owners and riders are encouraged to complete the survey as soon as possible.
