2018 Canberra Royal Show

The ponies were hard at it on the first day of the 2018 ACTewAGL Royal Canberra Show and went from small Novice to big Open Pony with the lucky few earning a ticket to the Championship ride off on Saturday. Ebonie Lee rode the Telford and Gerry nomination, 'Whitmere Palace Secret' to win the class for Novice Pony 12-12.2hh and went on to claim the best Novice Small Pony Award.

Jacinda Smith rode her, 'Merivale Park Remembrance' to take second place in the class for Novice Pony 12.2-13hh.

Lynda Hayes rode Vicki Pisciotta's eye catching, 'Wideacre Black Diamond' to sixth place in the class for Novice Pony 13-13.2hh.

Jess Stalling rode Kim Munkman's, 'Beckworth Commanding Elegance' to win both the Novice and Open 13-13.2hh Pony classes picking up, Best Novice large Pony on the way through.

Michael Glenn rode , 'ACM Ballerina' to take second place in the class for Novice Pony 13-13.2hh.

Melanie Skinner rode her own and Diane Godfrey's, 'Robbanie Frontman' to third place in the class for Novice Pony 13-13.2hh.

Tanya Benton-Hall rode her, 'Goldfield Royal Dream' to win the class for Novice Pony 13.2-14hh.

Jessica Dalgleish rode her, 'Monrose Park Playfroleigh' to take second place in the class for Novice Pony 13.2-14hh.

Michael Higginbottom took out the Champion Gelding and Supreme Led ANSA awards with his impressive Thoroughbred, 'Lauriston Park Masquerade' by Lonhro.

Successful presenter and handler, Michael Gates led the Spinks family's, 'Bayview Sundance' to win the class for led Riding Pony gelding N/E 14.1hh 3 Years and Under.

Ella Manning rode the beautiful and very well performed, 'Newington Tinkerbell' to win the class for Open Pony 11.2-12hh.

Tyler Kelly rode , 'Gemsfield Royal Ballet' to win the class for Novice Pony N/E 12hh.

Becky Roberson rode the eye catching, 'Langtree Jupiter' to third place in the class for Open Pony 11.2-12hh.

Ella manning from South Australia was on a roll during the Open Pony classes today. She won the 11.2-12hh class and went on to take out the Open 12-12.2hh class with , 'Royal Oak Figurine'.

An always busy Daizi Plumb, rode, 'DP Lady Di' to third place in the class for Open Pony 12-12.2hh.

Ella Finn rode Tim Hadlow's, 'Rhyl Finale' to second place in the Novice 12-12.2hh class and fifth place in the Open class.

The always elegant, Ali Berwick won the class for Lady Rider 21-40 Years.

Alice Styles claimed the Welsh D Gelding class with her Victorian bred, 'Nawarrah Park Game of Thrones'.

Kirsten Strath did the honours with Mim Richardson's Welsh B, 'Gracefield Beautiful N Brass' to claim the Led Welsh Gelding Championship.

Well known and popular exhibitor, Jeremy Roberts led his own, 'Napoleon' to take out the Led Riding Pony Gelding Reserve Championship.

David Qyayle did the honours with, 'Beechwood Caste in Gold' to claim the Led Riding Pony Gelding Championship.

Daniel Harvey took Sue Lyons' beautiful Welsh A mare, 'Imperial Bow' (Imperial Baledur/Imperial Bo Peep) to claim the Supreme led Welsh Exhibit award.

Hannah Plotecki rode Stephen Paris' lovely, 'Imperial Proclaim by Eyarth Tigre (imp) to win the class for Ridden welsh Stallion/Colt.

Andrew Hunt is pictured with the Argyl Stud's Champion Riding Pony Mare/Filly, 'Argyl Harmony' that a little earlier won the class for Open Pony12.2-13hh.

Darren Telford claimed the Supreme Led Riding Pony Award with the Champion Stallion/Colt, 'Rosedale Royal Windsor'.

Well known in the show ring, Melise Tuma-Webb teamed up with her son, Clayton Webb to win the Parent and Child Rider class.

Introducing a new generation. Very successful showing and dressage rider, Angela Latter took second place in the Parent and Child Rider class with some help from her daughter, Armarni Rodham.
