Australian International 3 Day Event

Popular international eventer, Stuart Tinney led the Australian Trans Tasman Team in to battle riding Cathy Ward and Peter O'Connell's Voltaire II gelding, 'Vettori'. They put in a sound Team test for a score of 54.20 and provisional 14th place. Stuart is also in seventh place with Tim Game's talented Staccato mare, 'Panamera'.

Young Victorian rider, Andrew Heseltine and his 'Warrego Windchester' are showing signs of the warm morning. They were second to go in the Bates CIC**.

Dressage last week, Eventing this week. The very popular Heath Ryan produced a lovely test riding his and wife Rozzie's nine year old Richmead Medallion gelding, Mystery Whisper for a score of 43.20 and provisional second place place.

Jessica Mitchell from NSW rode her Esperanto gelding, 'AEC Storman' for a CCI**** dressage score of 64.80.

Under cover watching the action on the big screen was a popular option for the many who attended the dressage day of the Australian International Three Day Event. Conducted in Rymill Park in the centre of Adelaide, the action steps up tomorrow with the exciting cross country phase.

Western Australian rider, Deon Stokes displayed a lovely touch and produced a delightful test from Sonja Johnson and her parents' typey Le Gruer gelding, 'Le Directeur' for a CCI**** dressage score of 52.30.

Saddleworld Ambassador, Megan Jones always has time for her admirers, in this case, Emily and Kaity Cuthbert from Shepparton in Victoria.

Very sadly for New Zealand Trans Tasman Team Member, Heelan Tomkins as a consequence of her horse, 'Sugoi' not being quite right, she will play no further part in the Australian International Three Day Event. It is certainly a long way to come for such a disappointment.

Western Australian wonder pair, Sonja Johnson and 'Ringwould Jaguar' put their best foot forward during the Equestrian Australia CCI**** dressage phase for equal third place on 44.70. Jag's enthusiasm for jumping was demonstrated by his jumping a white line on the arena when he was supposed to be trotting The Silver Medal Stock Horse will step up a gear when the jumping starts tomorrow.

NSW based New Zealander, Blair Richardson became part of New Zealand's Trans Tasman defence Team. Blair is riding his 'Spend Up' by Big Spender that is in 20th place after the dressage on 57.50%.

Beijing Team Silver Medalist, Shane Rose opened the Broome International CCI** competition with Cassie Lowe's lovely King of Kings gelding, 'Koko Black'. They are on 47.60 and are in provisional third place. Shane is also in equal third place in the CCI**** with 44.70 riding his Beijing Team horse, Angela Shacklady's, 'All Luck'. Shane also leads the CIC** field riding Marly Calladine-Leimbach and John Boyd's, Stratford Novalis.

Megan Jones and 'Kirby Park Irish Jester' produced a personal best Four Star dressage score of 34.70 in front of the home crowd. The 15.3hh grey gelding by Irish Enough demonstrated movement, was up, forward and obedient and a pleasure to watch. They lead the field by just over eight penalties going into the cross country phase tomorrow.

NSW rider, Rachael Lee rode the Tarraleah Performance Horses',, 'Hunter Hill' to take provisional 13th place with 55.10 in the Broome International Airport CCI** after the dressage phase.

Kristy Withers from South Australia is pictured aboard her delightful Buckskin, 'Exmoor Truffles' during the dressage phase of the Bates Australia CIC**.

Successful Victorian rider, Katja Weimann rode John and Jane Pittard's Daley K gelding, 'Pluto Mio' to win the CCI** dressage phase with a lovely test and impressive score of 42.40. Katja is also in fourth place riding Vaughan and Rosemarie Ellis' Off the Track subject, Tomahawk Tom on a score of 48.10.

John Thompson from Queensland rode his, 'Captain Nemo' to be in eighth place after the dressage in the Bates Australia CIC** with a score of 57.90.

Well known NSW rider and trainer, Craig Barrett rode Louise Hill's 'Sandhills Darcy' to score 63.90 for provisional 22nd place in the Equestrian Australia CCI****. However, it is early days yet and there will be a lot of movement in the leader board after the cross country phase tomorrow.

Clarke Johnstone was the trailblazer for the New Zealand Trans Tasman Team. Clarke rode his good moving and well preformed, 'Oakley Vision' for a score of 64 in the Equestrian Australia CCI****.

With three horses in the Equestrian Australia Four Star competition, Olympian, Wendy Schaeffer had her work cut out for her on a hot Adelaide Friday. Wendy is pictured riding the 2008 Four Star second placegetter, 'Koyuna Sun Dancer' that finished the dressage phase with a score of 56.

Well known and successful NSW eventer, Claudia Graham opened the show with her 'Park Street Vision', a Thoroughbred by Nothin' Leica Dane first to go in the Bates Australia CIC**. After the dressage phase they are in second place with 52.20.

Popular South Australian rider, Luke Jones rode his mother, Caroline Jones', 'Charlatan' to be in provisional 16th place in the Broome International Airport CCI** with 55.60.

2008 Four Star winner, Christopher Burton opted for the permissible "summer uniform" to ride Alex Townsend's seven year old Carbine gelding, 'Jaybee Calypso' in the Broome International Airport CCI**.

The stands were packed early for the dressage and first phase of the Australian International Three Day Event, despite the forecasted 39°C temperature.
