Brad Porter rode Miss LS Smith's impressive and tall, 'Struan Park Just Looking'(Talisman Fiddler/Jannali Just Looking) to perform well and take sixth place overall in the Smiff Industries National Futurity.
Gerald O'Brien rode the O'Brien Family Partnership's typey 'O' Brien's Resette' (Oaks Acorn/O'Brien's Lauette) to win the Working and Time Trial Section of the Smiff Industries to finish in fourth place overall.
Sam Davidge rode her eye catching 'Jindalee Casanova' (Better View Gunfire/ Rosebrook Cillawood) to take third place in the Hack Section and finish ninth overall in the Smiff Industries National Futurity for three year old registered Australian Stock Horses.
Australian Stock Horse Director, David Wilson rode his wife Sue's lovely, athletic and already successful, 'Glen Lee Enigma' (Glen Lee Rivoli Ray Tech/Omeo Riddle) to win the Led Section and place consistently throughout, to take second place overall in the Smiff Industries 2009 National Futurity.
It has been a grand show for the Wallen family from Queensland, with 17 year old Adam Wallen winning the Smiff Industries 2009 National Futurity today. Adam rode his father Geoff's 'Doongara Austin Powers' that is by the stallion, Regal Power, a subject of a Tribute story in Horse Deals Magazine last year. The well know and successful stallion contracted the Hendra virus and had to be put down, but was certainly well represented today. Austin Powers ,out of Doongara Model, won the Hack Section and was successful throughout the competition to claim the Futurity. Adam also took out the Plate for the most Successful Rider to have not been in the top five on a previous occasion, the Best Youth Exhibitor and the Best Interstate Exhibitor.
Madalyn Watchirs rode 'Watchirs Rooster' (Knights Reverend/Shinook Chess) to do well in the Smiff Industries 2009 National Futurity, including taking second place in the Amateur Working Section.
Well known Australian Stock Horse exhibitor, Susan Hayden had a super 2009 Futurity with her typey 'Myee Royal Major' (Kirkby's Major/Comara Daylight) to take third place overall. Susan also won the ASHLA Award for Most Successful Lady Exhibitor.
