Barastoc Horse of the Year 2014

The open hacks and ponies might have gone home but there was action aplenty at Werribee on the final day of the 2014 Barastoc Horse of the Year Show. The competition may have been moved , however there was plenty of action on the polo fields, with hundreds of HRCAV members adding colour, movement and good humour to the day. Lucy Moate is pictured with her, 'Niscinda Welsh Torque' that took fifth place in the strong class for Ridden Welsh Section D Mare, Filly or gelding. Sunday was very much a celebration of the variety and quality of breeds being shown in Australia.

Maddeline Ayres rode her, 'Wingana Robbie Black' to win the class for Ridden Welsh Section C.

Chloe Cope took out the Led Buckskin Gelding Championship with her, 'Glenene Clarity'.

Julie Ritchie and Helen Dohan's charming, 'Woranora Pandiea' (Imperial Behold/Woranora Pandora) was declared Supreme Led Buckskin.

Lisa Crocherell rode her, 'Bimbadeen Emerald' to third place in the class for Ridden Australian Pony of the Year.

Kelly Hamblin claimed the Barastoc Ridden Australian Pony of the Year award with her, 'Toolleen Benji'.

The Shetland Ponies have been a highlight of Barastoc 2014 and Dani Altham is pictured aboard, Michelle del Busso's delightful and well coiffured, 'Pilinta Park Sterling' during the Ridden Shetland of the Year contest.

Amelia Sadler rode Lisa Virgona's, 'Kilpara Park Duchess' to claim the Barastoc Ridden Shetland of the Year Runner Up award.

Long time and successful exhibitor of Native Ponies, Julia Grave rode her, 'Harkaway Lodge Glengary' to claim the Barastoc Ridden Highland Pony of the Year.

Jan and Stephanie Jennison's, 'Tara Park Genevieve' was declared Runner Up Junior Shetland of the Year.

At his first show under saddle, Nicole Salisbury's four year old, 'Greenlich Forrest' was declared Barastoc Ridden Connemara of the Year.

A delighted, Sophie Monaghan claimed the Ridden Fjord Pony of the Year award with her Australian bred, 'Seaview Park Colby'.

Robyn Anderson drove her Hackney Pony, 'Reigate Revelation' to take out the Barastoc Harness Pony Over 12.2hh of the Year award.

International harness driver, Diane Lawrence was lured back in to the show ring to drive, Ester Goodwin's, 'Carlyle Shakespeare' to claim the Runner Up Harness Pony Under 12.2hh of the Year award.

There is no stopping Carly and Ces Thomas', 'Chateau Gay Gracella' that with Carly at the reins claimed the Barastoc Harness Pony Under 12.2hh of the Year award.

Ridden by Kristen Sorraghan, Lyn Milburn's typey, 'Tapu Mosaic' was declared Supreme Ridden Pinto.

Worth the trip from NSW, Emma Adams rode Angie Nicholls', 'Orabanda County Fash'n' to claim the Ridden Palomino of the Year award.

At her first show, Sarah Buckley's, 'Miss Aurora' won the class for Buckskin Show Hunter 14hh and Over.

Rachel Stephenson rode, Hillary Ogden's, 'Miva Aneesah' to claim the Ridden Buckskin of the Year award.

Barastoc Event Director, Fiona Mardling is still smiling on day four!. Fiona oversaw a change in the traditional Barastoc format that has been universally applauded and will guarantee the continuation of the Barastoc Horse of the Year Show.
