2006 Canberra Royal Show

On home turf, Shane Keir drove the legendary Canberra Park Silhouette' to take out another Non Hackney Harness Horse Championship. Exhibited by Peter and Shane Keir and Canberra Park.

Local Boy Andrew Stone from Michelago won the Junior Gentleman Rider class (17-21) and went on to take out the Champion Gentleman Rider Award.

What a show!. If Supreme Led and Champion Ridden ANSA and Supreme Led Thoroughbred was not enough, Jo Uppington and Robyn Unsworth's beautiful 'Festival', ridden by Ryanne McIvor, won the Thoroughbred Mare Hack and the Lady's Hack class.

Many have come and gone over the years, but Vicky Lawrie remains at the top of the game. She rode the Lyndale Stables and Jaclyn Jacobson nominated 'DP Idol' to win the only class they started in, the Over 16.2hh Hack. From there, a beautiful horse, beautifully presented, good work and a ton of experience earned them the 2006 Royal Canberra Hack Championship.

Leanne Donoghue made and elegant and charming picture as she rode Jill Best's 'Twain' to win the Sidesaddle Hack class.

Bill Peadon from Bibbenluke on NSW rode his and wife Julie's 'Bibbenluke Salena' to victoy in the Working ASH Mare class. They went on to take out the Working Championship and be declared Supreme Champion Australian Stock Horse Under Saddle award.

Brittney McGlone rode Brent McGlone and Kelly Fletcher's 'Secretdowns Kelly's Secret' to win three Ridden ASH classes and go on to take out the Ridden Australian Stock Horse Championship.

Kirsten Martin rode the Martin Family's 'Boon Hill Oliver' to win the Working ASH Gelding class and take out the Reserve Working Australian Stock Horse Championship.

'Bumbora Paddington' was a particularly typey exhibit at the Royal Canberra Show today. Competing in the Guinea Pig ring Paddington was declared Rex Best of Breed and Best Coarse Coat Group, Exhibited by Melanie Barnes, he does seem to have a sense of his own importance, although perhaps a little startled by all the success.

Gary and Jenna Richardson start them young Young Charlotte at just two has quite a few more years in the Under 7 Years Leading Rein Rider class. Charlotte did appear to be enjoying every minute.

Sara Samsa won the Leading Rein Rider class for Riders Under 7 Years with a bit of help from Sam Beresford and 'Minty'.

Donna Button workes out in the Open Hack 15-15.2hh class with her own and Gina Beck's 'Devil's Lair'.

Christine Frost and Francesca Christie's Victorian EFA Hack of the Year, 'Elmdale Park Poise' won the Open 15-15.2hh class and went on to take out the Reserve Hack Championship.

Casey Peeck from Wagga Wagga was second in the Girl Rider 9-11Years class.

Billy McEvoy won the Girl Rider 7-9 Years class and really pushed her older peers in the Championship ride-off.

Sophie Coleman from Bittern in Victoria won the Girl Rider 11-13 Years class and was declared Reserve Champion Junior Girl Rider.

Nine -year-old Lily McEvoy from Strathmore in Victoria had a super show, which included her first Royal Show Rider Championship. Lily was declared Champion Junior Girl Rider.

Deanne Benton won the Open Hack 16-16.2hh class with her 'Sir Trafalgar'.

Rebecca Farrow from Victoria won the Lady Rider 21-40 class and went on to be declared Champion Lady Rider with some help from her successful hack, Stage Idol.

Sally Lieben from Oakville in NSW claimed the Led Clydesdale Supreme Championship with her filly, 'Aroona Park Matilda'. Sally is pictured here with judge, Peter McKeon from the Sydney suburb ofTurramurra.

Standing to attention. Jackie Long waits her turn to work out for the Ridden ASH Championship with her attentive and typey, 'Heza Star' who won the Ridden class for Colt/Filly/Gelding Under 4 Years.

Chris Lawrie rode the lovely 'Kolbeach Magic' to claim Best Novice Galloway, win the Open Lightweight 14-14.2hh and the Reserve Galloway Championship of Canberra.

Emma Marie from Nar Nar Goon in Victoria rides her Open Heavyweight 14.2-15hh winner, 'Willowcroft Garland' in the Galloway Championship workout.

Ex-pat Victorian now living in Queensland, Adam Oliver, rode the Widdowson Family's 'Willowcroft Regal Winter' to winthe Gents Galloway class and go on to take out the Canberra Galloway CHampionship.

Stuart Lavelle from Temora won the Boy Rider 13-15 Years and went on to take out the Boy Rider Under 17 Years Championship.

Thomas on tour! Thomas Madigan from Mackay in North Queensland has been sighted recently in Victoria and now at Canberra. Thomas won the Boy Rider 9 -11 and was declared Champion Boy Rider Under 13 Years.

No one would be surprised to read that well-know (at just 15) equestrian personality, Jessica Stalling was declared Supreme Champion Boy or Girl Rider Under 17 Years.

Laura Heffer rode Denise McMahon and Sarah McCormick's Barastoc Small Pony of the Year to take out the Canberra Reserve Champion Small Pony Award.

Beau Cunning rode Greg Gerry and Darren Telford's lovely and super working 'LJS Keeping Secrets' to take out the Canberra Small Pony Championship.

John Stiphout rode the former Champion ASH Led Gelding and Champion Ridden ASH, 'Lone Pine Dodge' , exhibited by the Fernbrook Stud, to take fourth place in the Working Australian Stock Horse Gelding class.

Joanne Prestwidge made it a second Canberra Large Pony Championships with her lovely home bred, 'Royalwood Merry Music'. Merry Music by Oakvale Serenade out of Syon Petite won the Open 13-13.2hh class. Earlier in the show Merry Music claimed back to back Ridden Riding Pony Show Pony Championships.

Prue Harvey, Darren Telford and Greg Gerry's lovely import, 'Ainthorpe Splendid Morning' won the Open Pony 12.2-13hh class and ridden by Trinette Crawford, was declared Reserve CHampion Large Pony.
