Dressage and Jumping with the Stars

Caroline Bentley and her 'Brinkin Fitzwilliam' (Regal Salute/Impetrare) finished very creditably midfield in both the Riding Horse and Four Year Old Dressage Horse classes after round one.

The calm before the storm! DJWTS has always been a cause to shop and this year is no exception. During the competition breaks, the crowd floods out to the trade stands, which are reporting good business.

The Four year Olds were this year given two classes, A Riding Horse Class and a Dressage Horse Class. The Riding Horse class "aims to highlight suitability to become a dressage horse". One would imagine that is the same aim as the Dressage Horse Class. More explanation I'm sure will come to hand as the show progresses. Carolyn Henley is pictured with her 'Ettienne' (Cool Cat/Madam Butterfly by Rocadero). After the first round they are in third place with 7.9 in the Four Year Old Dressage Horse and seventh place in the Riding Horse class with 7.5.

Tristan Tucker and Jive Talkin 2 by Jive Magic out of a Medallion mare, after day one are in equal ninth place in both the Four Year-Old Dressage Horse class and the Riding Horse class with 6.90 and 7.30 respectively.

Brya Law with Dr Kerry Mack's 'Mayfield Noble' by Jet Set D out of a Rocadero mare. They took part in both the Riding Horse and Four Year Old Dressage Horse class.

After round one, Gary Lung leads the way in both the Four Year Old Riding and Dressage Horse classes with his impressive,'GB Winchester'. The highly praised chestnut gelding is by Weltmeyer out of Glennis Barry's successful mare, GB Saffron.

Karen Blyth and her 'Lion Park Recherche' (Rotspon/LPL Jennifer) are equal ninth in the Riding Horse class with 7.30 after day one.

Katrina Bolmat and her 'Hollands Bend Rotteufel' (Rotspon/Larundal Gandalf) are lying equal ninth in the Riding Horse class, 7.30 and also equal ninth after the First round of the Four Year Old Dressage Horse class with 6.90.

Jodie Thomas with her Five Year Old Jumper, 'Ego Centerpeice' (Camelot Ego Z/Glenvale Centrefold) in the warm up round today, The Young Jumper classes proper begin tomorrow.

Christpoh Koschel the younger half of the much anticipated father/son combination from Germany. Some readers may recognise the name as Maree Tomkinson is currently training in Germany with Jurgen and Christoph Koschel. The Koschels are special guests at Dressage and Jumping With The Stars.

Corrine Winch rode her 'Belcam Canada' (Contango II/Dior) in the Four Year Old Young Dressage Horse class.

Heidi Talbot with her 'Granthurst Maverick' (Metal/Larapinta Conquest) in front of the Beijing themed decoration at DJWTS this year. The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office is sponsoring the Grand Prix Freestyle, as the Olympic equestrian competition will be conducted in Hong Kong. Maverick was equal fifth in the Riding Horse class with 7.60.

Justine Greer rode her 'Yarra Valley Rodrigo' (Regardez Moi/Fantasia) to be in equal fifth place in the Riding Horse class with 7.60 and seventh place in the Four Year Old Dressage Horse class with 7.20 after round one.

Eleanor McCoombe with her 'Yarramee Phoenix' (Prince Noir/Lisas Love) during round one of the Four Year Old Young Dressage Horse class.

Bianca Barnes and her gelding, 'Belcam Cadet' (Capone/Jocs Girl) are in equal fourth place with 7.80 after the first round of the Four Year Old Dressage Horse class.

Susan Heywood had her Riding Pony/ Thoroughbred, 'Millawarrah Miami' (Owendale King of Hearts/Millawarrah) in both the Riding Horse and the Four Year Old Young Dressage Horse classes.

Shane Davidson from Queensland has both young dressage horses and young jumpers at DJWTS. Shane is pictured riding 'Fairbanks Las Vegas' (Le Primeur/Fairbanks Gina) in the first round of the Four Year Old Young Dressage Horse class.

Well-known New South Wales rider, Lizzie Wilson-Fellows rode Sue Fidler's 'Let's Entertain' (Gracefield Klaus/Springfield Ava) to sixth place in the Four Year Old Young Dressage Horse class with 7.50 and fourth place in the Riding Horse class with 8.10 after round one.

John Potter was the crowd favourite of the Young Dressage Horse classes today with his charismatic and talented, 'Summersby' by Sandro Hit out of a Davignon mare. After round one they are equal second in the Riding Horse class with 8.30 and second in the Four Year Old Dressage Horse class with 8.20.

Georgina Cattermole's 'Bellaire Cannavaro' (Contendro 1/Fiorella) received the top mark, 8.5 for canter during the Four Year Old Young Dressage Horse class today. As canter accounts for at least 60% of the Grand Prix test, it is very important. After round one they are equal second in the Riding Horse class with 8.30 and fourth in the Four Year Old Dressage Horse class with 7.80.
