Merrick Ubank from the Gold Coast hinterland in Queensland took out his second World Cup Qualifier of the season at Melbourne Royal this afternoon. Merrick rode his ten year old Alimo gelding, 'Aladino' to victory at Caboolture in August and today they were the only combination of the 22 to start to post a clear around Leeson Sirett's World Cup track. They added just four penalties in the second round to be a clear and popular winner.
