NVSJ Showjumping Festival

Becky Allen has been in great form with the Allen family's Brilliant Invader gelding, Koyuna Ted. They won the final Grand Prix at the Australian Championships, took out the Victorian Showjumping Championships at Whittlesea last week and today jumped four and clear to take second place in the Northern Victorian Show jumping Club World Cup Qualifier. They are demonstrating just how much effort you sometimes need to put in to stay at the top.

Chris Chugg rode the Australian Sporthorse Breeders lovely imported mare, 'Alondra' (by Indorado out of and Emillion mare) to jump four and four and take eighth place on time in the NVSJC World Cup Qualifier.

Vicki Roycroft jumped a first out clear in the NVSJC World Cup Qualifier with the scopey , 'Infatuation'. For a moment they had some thinking  the course was too easy. However, it did not take too long for most to realise David Sheppard's track was not easy, it was just scope and talent that saw Vicki and 'Infatuation' home clear. They added four penalties in the second round to take third place on time.

Wendy Schaeffer jumped one of the six (from 23) clear first rounds in the NVSJC World Cup Qualifier. Two down in the second round saw the consistent pair finish in seventh place on time.

Billy Raymont was rather the "thorn amongst the roses" in the first round of the NVSJC World Cup Qualifier. Of the six clear in the first round, Billy was the only boy. He rode the typey Thoroughbred Stardom , by Grosvenor, to add four penalties in the second round for fifth place on time.

All eyes on Jamie Winning and 'Yandoo Vangelo' in the second round of the NVSJC World Cup Qualifier. Jamie and the talented import kept their cool and their style and were the only combination to jump a double clear to claim their first World Cup class.

There was great concern as to the footing for the World Cup, however the rapidly improving ground coupled with David Sheppard's super efforts to run his course over the best of it, saw and incident free and entertaining class. But experienced combinations, Laurie Lever and 'Ashleigh Drossel Dan' and Paul Athanasoff with 'Wirragulla Nicklaus' withdrew from the competition due to concern about the footing.
