Saddleworld Dressage Festival

Judy Smith had a trio of lovely, imported mares all competing at the Saddleworld Victorian Dressage Championships. She is pictured riding her Cordoba mare, 'Comtesse' that took fifth place in the ISSA Medium 4C test.

Successful Queensland young rider, Elliott Patterson took the early lead, but had to settle for eventual second place in the Marcus Oldham Aachen Challenge. However, his horse, the talented'Leandro' by Lauries Crusader was declared Best Horse in the competition.

Twenty one year old Alexis Hellyer from Woodville in the Hunter Valley rode away with the trip to Aachen, not only by her efforts riding her own Weltmeyer gelding, 'Waca W", but also by her ability to catch ride the other two finalist's horses. The three Marcus Oldham Aachen Challenge finalists rode their own horse and then the horses of the other two riders with the highest percentage from the three rides winning the trip to Germany.

Rozzie Ryan again claimed top honours with Olivia Bunn's former eventer, 'GV Bullwinkle' by Rocadero. The chosen music was delightful and fitted Bullwinkle's tempo perfectly. If I say Tubular Bells meets Morris dancing, it sounds rather naf, but it was in fact very entertaining. They won the Kieffer Intermediate Freestyle with 70.70%.

Mark Arthur from Neutral Bay in NSW impresses with every outing. The "born again" dressage rider rode his Salute gelding, 'Kooinda Saint' to a toe tapping Meatloaf score for third place in the Kieffer Intermediate 1 Freestyle.

If only we could all age like 'Neversfelde Kudu'? The talented, twenty year old Kassiber mare was ridden by Alycia Targa to second place in the Kieffer Intermediate 1 Freestyle with 70%. Later in the day Alycia took third place in the Marcus Oldham Aachen Challenge (for riders between 16 and 25 years) riding Kudu's son, Neversfelde Weltsong.

Successful Small Tour competitors, Clare Porx and her Danish mare, 'Candi Ka' by Cajus were fourth in the Kieffer Intermediate 1 Freestyle with 66.08%.

And who disguised as Father Christmas? Jeremy Janjic did the honours as Santa last night, but he was in serious mode today riding the charismatic Fresian stallion, 'Django of Cacharel' by Pike SD to sixth place in the Kieffer Intermediate 1 Freestyle.

Molly Chiller from Mansfield in Victoria rode 'Lonely Oak Hanky Panky' by LJS Limited Edition to sixth place in the Peter Horobin Pony Preliminary 1B and second place in the 1c for fourth place overall in the Pony Preliminary Championship.

Kerry Mack needs little introduction in the dressage world. The enthusiastic breeder, trainer and rider, with a bit of work as a psychiatrist on the side, rode her promising an home bred 'Mayfield Miracle' by Rotspon in the ISSA Medium Championship

Georgia Welch rode her 'Baxtes Grand Image' by Whitehorse Valentino to take fourth place in the Peter Horobin Pony Preliminary 1B test and was sixth overall in the Championship..

Karen Blythe from Ballan in Victoria rode her Australian bred Swedish Warmblood, 'Lion Park Lodge Barchellorette' by Briar 899 in the ISSA Medium Championship.

Ann Smiley from Gruyere in the Yarra Valley rode her home bred, 'Lynlea Pantomime' by Silkwood Puss 'n' Boots to third place in the Peter Horobin Pony Preliminary 1C test. They took seventh place overall in the Pony Preliminary Championship.

Hamag Victorian Young Rider Squad member, Faye Hinchcliffe from Coldstream in Victoria rode the Capone gelding, 'Belcam Christos' in the ISSA Medium Championship.

Justine Greer from Gisborne South in Victoria rode her 'Yarra Valley Rodrigo' by Regardez Moi out of a Flemmingh mare to take third place in the ISSA Medium 4C test with 64.75%.

Melissa Taffe and 'Kindilin Park Dark Crystal' by Blk Glass, both look a picture of concentration during the Peter Horobin Victorian Pony Preliminary Championship.

Maddison Albutt from Pakenham in Victoria rode 'Mirinda Impressionist' by Dainhill Royal Bow in the Peter Horobin Victorian Pony Preliminary Championship.

Erica Hosking rode her 'Owendale Tammy' by Owendale Perci to take ninth place overall in the Peter Horobin Victorian Pony Preliminary Championship.

Hamag Victorian Young Rider Squad member, Ben Terry rode 'Nawarrah Park Pop Rock' by Synod Aristocrat in the Peter Horobin Pony Preliminary Championship. The Welsh featured prominently in the Pony dressage competition over the weekend.

Sue West from Bittern in Victoria rode her Grand Kavalier gelding, 'Rameses' to eighth place in the ISSA Medium 4B test with a score of 64.86%.

Toni Pearce from Wagga Wagga in NSW (a wet Wagga Wagga) claimed a bit of dry land In the ISSA Medium Championship at the Saddleworld Victorian Dressage Championships with her Graf Landau gelding, 'Garfunkel'.

Casey Arthur-Wise from Echuca in Victoria rode her 'Thorpeville Dane' by Owendale Jolly Rodger to claim the Peter Horobin Pony Preliminary Reserve Championship.

Catherine Alti from Pakenham in Victoria rode her 'World of Music' by by Worldly IFS in the ISSa Victorian Medium Championship.

There are so many successful Archimedes horses out competing that it would be impossible to count them. (Maybe Bev Edwards can!). Christine McElwain from Chirnside Park in Victoria is pictured with her 'Jaybee Acrobat' during the ISSA Victorian Medium Championship.

Isabella Godfrey rode the delightful, 'Wingana Chatterbox' by Owendale Perceval to win the Pony Preliminary 1B and take fourth place in the 1C to claim the Peter Horobin Victorian Pony Preliminary Championship.

Georgina Cattermole rode the super and successful stallion, 'Bellaire Cannavaro' by Contendro 1 to win both the ISSA Medium tests, with 68.19% and 67.37% to take out the Victorian Medium Championship.
