2018 NSW Dressage Championships

A record number of entries were received for the Championships and four full days of competition is underway at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.

Some impressive results have been posted on the scoreboard on the first two days of competition.

Judy Dierks on Vicki Newham’s Diamond Star bounced back after the disappointment of missing out on WEG selection with a winning score of 72.261%. Close behind with a PB in second place Matthew Dowsley on Denise Ceddia’s AEA Prestige 72.00%. In third place Katharine Farrell – Luxor 118 owned by Gregory Farrell 68.087.

Competition resumes tomorrow, Saturday, 1 September with a full programme, including the Randwick Equine Clinic Grand Prix Freestyle starting at 5.30pm. Admission is free, catering and bar facilities available.

Randwick Equine Clinic Grand Prix Freestyle

One of the highlights of the Championships is the Grand Prix Freestyle won by up and coming combination – with a bright future at Grand Prix level, Matthew Dowlsey on AEA Prestige. The combination had their first Grand Prix Freestyle start and recorded the highest ever score, 75.795%, at this level at the NSW Championships.

Matthew is just behind the record score achieved in an Australian event - recorded by Mary Hanna on Umbro in the GP Freestyle at the Bradgate Park CDI in 2015.
