Brumby 'backflip' denied by NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro

NSW Deputy Premier, John Barilaro, has rejected suggestions he has backflipped on the plan for brumby management.

At a recent public forum in Jindabyne, the Monaro MP backed the removal of 50 per cent of feral horses immediately, and seemed to endorse an ultimate target of 600 horses in Kosciuszko National Park.

Conservationists are asking for clarification and brumby advocates are also concerned.

However, Mr Barilaro said his view had not changed at all.

In 2018, the NSW Government rejected a draft plan to reduce the brumby population by 90 per cent over 20 years.
