Fertility control trial shows success as NSW Government moves to protect brumbies

A northern New South Wales brumby sanctuary claims a fertility-blocking drug it has been trialling has shown some success and could be used to control the numbers of wild populations.

Fertility control is one idea being floated in the wake of the NSW Government's bid to ban the future culling of brumbies within Kosciusko National Park in southern NSW, a decision which has divided communities.

Bellingen and Armidale-based group Save the Brumbies has spent three years trialling an unnamed drug on about 60 horses spread across two properties in the New England and Southern Highlands.
