Heath Ryan announced as Patron of Pony Club Australia

Pony Club Australia is pleased to announce that it has appointed Heath Ryan as its new patron.

“Heath is an excellent Pony Club graduate who has gone on to make a lasting contribution to the horse industry. Through his skill and passion, Heath embodies the vision of Pony Club – “A life with horses starts here”. PCA Chair Carol Paterson said.

Heath Ryan represented Australia in dressage at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 and has been a successful assistant coach of the Olympic eventing team 3 times. Heath has excelled in both dressage and eventing nationally and internationally as a rider, and bred and trained gold medal horses competing in the northern hemisphere. Heath now also offers training programs for young riders from his base in NSW.

“I am delighted to step into this role. I grew up in the Hunter Valley and attended Maitland Pony Club. I still cherish some wonderful early memories of riding, Pony Club friends and adventures.”

“Today I am immersed in a world of coaching and competition. In my interactions at all levels - whether it be students, international judges, high profile coaches, Equestrian Australia board members, Olympic competitors or official volunteers - Pony Club is almost always the common denominator. That is a magnificent contribution to the equestrian industry.” Heath said

Heath replaces Gillian Rolton, who was PCA’s first patron and passed away in 2017.
