The 2018 Horseware Australia Victorian Interschool Equestrian State Championships concluded successfully last week at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre.
More than 500 school students from 172 schools competed on 640 horses in dressage, show jumping, combined training, show horse, handy mount and novelty classes.
The event’s principal sponsors were Horseware Australia, Stegbar, Off The Track, Greystone Australia, Ashford Park and Kubota.
Interschool Victoria Committee Chair and Event Director, Lisa Hocking, congratulated all participants and said the event had been a great success.
“Hundreds of students have performed to their best on their horses and ponies, and they have been well rewarded,” she said.
“The top two place getters in every class went home with beautiful Horseware rugs and saddle blankets, and many other amazing prizes were given out.
“The students were supported by hundreds more family members, officials, judges, committee members and volunteers, not to mention our wonderful sponsors.”
Equestrian Victoria Chair Peter Dunne said, “We would like to thank the organising committee and all supporters and sponsors for their contributions to what has become a major event on Victoria’s equestrian calendar.”
The event also serves as a qualifier for the Marcus Oldham Australian Interschool Championships, to be held at Werribee on 1-4 October.
Mr Dunne said the committee was already working hard to prepare for this major event.
“Equestrian Victoria appreciates the efforts of this hardworking committee and looks forward to welcoming students and their families travelling from NSW, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory, to participate in the national championships in October.”
The best-performed school and the winners of the Nan McArthur award for the best performed rider will be announced in the near future.
