Jockey returns from neck injury

Joe Bowditch made his first step towards his competitive riding return with his first morning back at Caulfield trackwork on Tuesday morning.

Bowditch was one of four jockeys involved in a fall at Sale on July 31, brought down aboard the Peter Gelagotis-trained Signorelli. The final meeting of Victoria's 2018/19 season was consequently abandoned.

The 42-year-old was originally cleared of serious injury but further discomfort, which led to a follow-up check within 48 hours of the accident, revealed he had a stable fracture in his neck and a fractured left clavicle.
