Juan Matute Guimon underwent a CT scan Thursday that showed “light improvement” five days after surgery in Madrid to repair a “congenital malformation” in his brain, his father reported.
The 22-year-old Spanish team rider would continue to be sedated “a bit longer, whatever is good for his brain the rest and recover,” Juan Matute Aziptarte, Juan’s father, told dressage-news.com.
“It’s a long battle and we keep strong.”
Juan is hospitalized at Jiménez Díaz Foundation facility where he underwent a lengthy operation last Saturday. He had collapsed May 5 after riding.
