It’s well known that Olympian, Shane Rose is bursting with energy on every level and with in excess of 100 horses in work at his and wife Nicky’s, Bimbadeen Park in Werombi NSW, their Tack Room must meet the demands of this busy yard. Bimbadeen, is not only home to a large string of elite level Eventing horses, but it also home to breaking and pre-training racehorses, many who have gone on to illustrious careers on the track. With a huge selection of tack on hand, the team at Bimbadeen can match the right tack to meet the needs of every horse and the tackroom certainly reflects that.
While we would love a boutique tack room, with the number of horses in work on the property means that our tack room is more factory like with mountains of gear to ensure we have exactly what we need for each horse. There is a set section to each part of the tackroom:
One wall is dedicated to our 25+ beautiful Bates saddles, each one is numbered so as to identify what width and size they are.
A second wall is dedicated to our bridles. Again, most are individualized for particular requirements and sectioned into dressage and jumping bridles.
We then have a wall dedicated to saddlecloths, rugs, and boots.
The door into the tack room from the cross ties sits against the bridle wall and contains the list of which gear each of the performance horses wears, for ease of the staff who prepare the horses.
A plentiful supply of bits for any requirement.
Each paddock and yard is numbered to keep track of the many Thoroughbred and performance horses that come and go from Bimbadeen Park.
Whilst the silos are not within the Tack Room, we thought this was an interesting and vital part of the operation. With over 150 horses to feed each day we buy grain straight off the farm, it is stored at Bimbadeen Park in four silos’. Each day we mix our own feed which consists of chaff that we cut ourselves, oats, barley, sunflower seeds, lupins and horsepower pellets. Note: the barley and lupins are crushed daily.
