Pilot and passenger from Queensland killed in light plane crash in South Australia

A pilot killed in a plane crash that also claimed the life of his passenger in South Australia's outback has been identified as a southern Queensland businessman and horse stud owner.

Peter Gesler from Greymare was piloting the light plane when it crashed in scrubland about 4.5 kilometres from the Leigh Creek Airport, at about 6:30pm on Saturday.

A 48-year-old woman from Wynnum who was onboard was also killed.
