Talented mare drowns at sea

High class mare Miss Pandanus has drowned in a freak beach incident at Balnarring.

The Mick Kent-trained chestnut had been in pre-training with David Noonan when she took fright yesterday morning, reared, bolted and began swimming out to sea.

She then turned back to shore before again panicking and drowning.

A devastated Kent said such incidents were rare but heartbreaking.
