The Equestrian Australia Australian Interschool Championships Teamwork Trophy, for the state showing the best team spirit and teamwork, was awarded to Tasmania.

Equestrian Victoria CEO Matthew Brown said the event was a huge success.

“The sight of several hundred children camping with their families, riding their horses and ponies, and cheering each other on was quite a spectacle.

“The Australian Interschool Championships is a large and growing force in the equestrian world. The first competitions were held in 2008, and thousands of children have enjoyed the event since.

“Riders who have won and competed in the Championships have gone on to represent Australia, proving Interschool’s vital role in nurturing our up and coming competitors.

“Equestrian Victoria is grateful to event sponsors without whom the Championships could not have proceeded. Key sponsors included Marcus Oldham College, the Victorian Government, Horseware Australia, GDJ Strategy.Creative.Digital.Media, Kubota Australia, Greystone Australia, Racing Victoria’s Off The Track program, Prydes Easifeed, Equiluxe Horse Floats, OzShots Photography, Godolphin Life Time Care and Accredited Distributers.

More than 400 riders and over 2000 supporters, officials and volunteers from across Australia participated through the week in dressage, show jumping, combined training, show horse and eventing. Teams travelled from Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory Queensland and NSW to compete.

“The organising committee is to be congratulated for undertaking such an enormous task and seeing this year’s Championships through to a successful conclusion,” Mr Brown said.
