Gavin Chester jumped two clear rounds in the Bega Showjumping Cup with his well travelled Daley K stallion, 'Warlord !!'. Gavin has been putting a great deal of work into the horse's rideability and would have been pleased with Warlord's form, if not his third place.
Whilst Hilary Scott is taking some time off over the holiday season, Chris Chugg made the most of his opportunity of the ride on Hilary's super imported Pro Ratio mare, 'Oaks Pro Ratina'. Chugg and Ratina shaved more than two seconds off Gavin Chester's time to take second place in the Bega Showjumping Cup Grand Prix. Chris gave a wonderful riding lesson today, winning the class with the Australian Sporthorse Breeders' lovely Indorado mare, 'Alondra', just a fraction faster than Ratina. Chris also jumped clear and four riding the impressive, seven year old Clinton stallion, Conquistador to take fourth place. Chris would have had four rides in the class, but withdrew 'Vivant', the 1.40m winner yesterday, as the stallion had a temperature.
Local Bega boy, Jamie Smith thrilled the enthusiastic crowd by jumping two super rounds with his Thoroughbred, 'Mr Whitter'. With just one first round rail down around Graeme Watts' testing 1.45m track., Jamie took fifth place in the Bega Showjumping Cup.
Popular and successful Canberra rider, Grant Hughes had three horses in the Bega Showjumping Cup and the best of them was the veteran, 'Yakity Yak' that jumped four and clear for sixth place.
