Rebecca Henry from North Queensland added just one time penalty in the first round of the World Cup Qualifier riding the former Tim Clarke mount, 'Spielberg'. With two down in the second round, the time penalty proved costly and saw them slip to ninth place.

Ross Smith had two down and a couple of time penalties riding 'Australian Horses Likable', however the World Cup debutante looked really promising.

Merrick Ubank, pictured riding 'Up n' Down' took third place in the World Cup riding his 'Dover Street, which jumped four and four over the two rounds. 'Dover Street' had a spectacular Six Bar Victory last night, jumping well over six feet (over 1.80m).

David Dobson was one of just two first round clears in the World Cup Qualifier riding the Warmblood stallion, 'Pico Bello'. An unexpected two down inthe second round saw them finish in fourth place on time.

Adam Oliver's beautiful. 'WP Enigma' won the class for Thoroughbred Gelding Hack.

Sally Pointon- Wales well-performed hack, 'Kanavor Trick or Treat' competing inthe Thoroughbred Gelding Hack class.

Fiona Rolls with her own and Geoff and Bev Darling's lovely Thoroughbred gelding, 'Bahama' by Neduym (Ire) out of Lady Chanel.

Ashley Harris' 2007 Sydney Royal Pope Cup winner, 'Highbury', took third place in the Thoroughbred Gelding Hack class.

Martin Guenther from the ACT rode his own and wife Toni's 'Rumble' in the Thoroughbred Gelding Hack class.

James Athanasoff with his own and Gergor McCann's impressive Thoroughbred Gelding Hack, 'Royal Verduct'.

Gina Beck rode Oakridge P/L's former Queensland Cup winner, 'Gillespie' by Rhythm out of Dowager Empress (Can) to take fourth place in the Thoroughbred Gelding Hack class.

Renee Simpson from Cairns claimed the Thoroughbred Mare Hack class with her 'Kalykulya'. The Thoroughbred Hack classes were judged "on the circle by South African, Gregory Goss, immediatly after and in the led judging ring. It really made the most of the Thoroughbred day and was agreat success.

Steve Sambrooks with the Sambrooks and Ezzy nominated 'Instant Money' by Sequalo out of Paris Proviso. The beautiful horse was declared Champion Mare and a little later in the day took sixth place in the Ridden Thoroughbred Mare class.

Reserve CHampion Thoroughbred Stallion, 'Main Train' by Succes Express out of Rebecca Gay and exhibited by SJ & DE Tanner.

Adrian Riley's Stallion, 'Meteoric Rise' by Celestial Dancer out of Impavida won the Stallion Over Six Years class, claimed his third Stallion Championship ans was declared Supreme Champion Thoroughbred.

R Gilmour's 'Rosey Glow' Two-Year-Old Filly by Ombra Della Sera out of Flower of Karioi, shown by Jade Copeland was declared Thoroughbred Marketing Queensland Supreme QTIS Exhibit.

Liz Doggett's beautiful 'King's Beach' by King Rautai NZ ou of Song and Sand was declared Champion Thoroughbred Gelding. Not long off the track, King's Beach is destined for the show ring.

Sarah Young with her own and Leonie Livingston's Two-Year-Old Filly, 'Lady Markane' by Markane out of the former Champion Thoroughbred mare, Must Be A Lady. The filly was fourth in her class.

Eagle Farm Trainer, Brian Wakefield was seriously studying the bloodstock on show at the Ekka.

PA Arnold's 'Abunya Belle' by Benji Storm USA out of Belle of Lutine NZ won the class for "Three Year-Old Filly that has started in the last six months.

Well-known and successful showing identity, Gary Weir with his Thoroughbred mare, "Arise to Fame' (s.Quest For Fame d. Arise). The mare was ninth in her "Mare to have started in the last six months" and Gary was declared Best Dressed Male Strapper in the class.

Tuesady was Thoroughbred day at the EKKA. All morning they constituted the only classes on the main arena. The judging arena was surrounded by a picket fence and seating on three quarters. The stars of the day were the Thoroughbreds and if you needed any encouragement to attend, all spectators were offered a free buffet lunch, and a good one too. The day was sponsored by the Thoroughbred Marketing Group of Queensland.

Robert Moffatt rode Alan and Jeanette William's scopey Falkrich gelding, 'It's Ritchie' to post the only double clear and claim their first World Cup victory.

Billy Raymont rode Simone Kann's former eventer, 'Balmoral Tim Tram' to jump four and clear to take second place in only their second World Cup Qualifier together.
