2010 Adelaide Royal Show

Cooper Oborn and his 'Splurge' took fifth place in the Princes Royal Station Eventing Challenge on a very wet first day of the 2010 Royal Adelaide Show.

Luke Jones and his 'Captain Fantastic' demonstrate the winning form that saw them pocket the $1500 price money for first place in the Princess Royal Station Eventing Challenge. it was a great day at the office for the experienced South Australian eventer, as he also took second place and another $1200 riding his 'Soul'. Much more than enough to pay for the dry cleaning bill and a bit more.

The Adelaide Hunt Club Team, Marge Lee riding 'Rhodes', John McCoy with 'Gus', Tony Arthur and 'Cookie' and Julie Morris aboard her 'Mrs Bucket' make the most of the "good Hunting weather" during the Castle Tavern Section Four competition.

Standing room only in the Riders Stand. In fact anywhere dry was popular on surely the wettest first Saturday of Adelaide Royal for many, many years.

The Lanyon Riding Club Team comprising, Kate Parnell, 'Blaze, Jeff Parnell, 'Itchy', Tony Hall, 'Oscar' and Caitlin Solly riding 'Max' took second place in the first round of the Castle Tavern Section Four competition.

The Clare Hunt Club 'Supermodels Team' make a good effort during their first round run in the Castle Tavern Section Four competition. This is the third year since this entertaining competition has been reintroduced to the Adelaide Royal.

The Penola Hunt Club Team of, Charmaine Hurst, 'Jesse', Damian Hill, 'Dot', Tim Goodes, 'Bundy' and Hannah Cummings riding 'Coal Master' took third place in the second round of the Castle Tavern Section Four competition.

One of the dominant Jones boys, Dominic rode his Connor Shea to fourth place in the Princess Royal Station Eventing Challenge.

The Southern Eyre Hunt Club make a good jump over this panel during the first round of the Castle Tavern Section Four competition. The team consisted of, Shun Stringer, 'Tommy', India Gynell, 'Johnny', Maddison Davey, 'Appy' and Stella McGeever' riding 'Mapua'.

The Strathalbyn Hunt Club had an amazing six teams entered for the Castle Tavern Section Four competition. Their Dot To Dot Team, Rosalie Peder, 'Spook' Nadia Connor, 'Oscar', Judith Lowe 'Cosevin' and Kate Brooks with 'Nicktastic' took fourth place in the first round and first place in the second round.

The Strathalbyn State Emergency Team look to have good timing over this paned during their first run in the Castle Tavern Section Four competition. The Team consisting of, Shaye Williams, 'Boongala Stardust', Joanne Grant, 'Burnbank Bridie', Tania Tilvi, 'Kobus' and Rosie Heath with 'Concert Master' took second place in the second round of the competition.

The Strathalbyn Three and A Half men Team, Mark Bruggemann, 'Tommy' , Neil Quinn, 'Arthur Warwick', Stuart Bartlett, 'Red Dan' and Rick Copping riding 'Nina' took third place in the first round of the Castle Tavern Section Four competition.

The Strathalbyn Hunt Club Silverado Team comprising, Sarah Jacobs, 'Shades of Grey', Georgie Kerr, 'Hugo', Natalie Peters, 'Brilliant Lies' and Cathy Leitch' riding 'Josh took fifth place in the first round of the Castle Tavern Section Four competition.

Showjumping guru, George Sanna looks undaunted by the decidedly inclement weather. George leads an outstanding field of showjumpers entered for the Royal Adelaide Show.

Eleven year old Troy Woollard from Wasleys near Gawler works his, 'Akeringa Allegro' for the Pony and Riding classes tomorrow. The work area resembled a swamp and any more water would have seen 'Allegro' swimming.

Undeterred by the rain, the lunging begins.

Lara Pizimolas and 'Eric' made the best of a very wet morning to take sixth place in the Princess Royal Station Eventing Challenge. A dressage test and showjumping round were followed by a quick dash around the beautiful Adelaide arena over a course of portable cross country fences designed by Wayne Copping.

This busy alleyway seems to have avoided the floodwater. But it does look chock a block full of all the necessary to get the ponies to the ring.
