2009 Brisbane Royal Show

Deborah Osmond had her hands full with her own and Andrew Osmond's Shire Horse stallion, 'Southern Cross Spitfire' (Walton Supreme/Gronant Beachgirl). The well behaved giant won the Grandshire Horse Stud class for Stallion/Colt Two Years and Over.

John Chatterton did the honours with Kelvin Smith's winning Shire Horse Gelding Two Years and Over, 'Ingleside Bright Spark' (Oakridge Spectacular imp/Myrtle Park Julia), that went on to be declared the Cedars Shire Horse Stud Best Shire Horse Exhibit.

Graham Paine is pictured with his Champion Shetland Pony Stallion, 'Gar-Won Trident' (Thorpeville Star Crest/Wells Thelma).

Robyn Allison-Woods, with Ashley, somewhat of a solemn passenger, drove their well performed, 'Mayflowers Beau Supreme' to take out the class for Lady's Buggy Turnout.

Getting fitter by the day, Anthony Mountney led the Willowcroft Stud's, 'Willowcroft Regal Alliance' (Willowcroft Regal Emblem/Urubula Giselle) to victory in the class for Two Year Old Riding Pony Colt NE 14hh.

Jodi Allen is pictured with her buoyant, 'Manorvale Royal Show' (Manorvale Finale/Everon Park Tameil), winner of the class for Three Year Old Riding Pony Colt NE 14.1hh.

Nathan Birrell began the day well by taking out the Best Riding Pony Youngstock Award with the George Family's Two Year Old Filly, 'Rathowen Robed In Red' (Kolbeach Freedom/Rathowen Lady In Red).

Richard Sharman is pictured with the Hansen Family's Three Year Old Riding Pony Filly winner, 'Kirrakai Sweet Serenity' (Kirrakai Royal Mink/Urubula Sweet Honesty).

Amanda Christensen flew in to Brisbane to help, mum, Elva, at the show. Amanda is pictured with the Tongolini and McKinninon nomination, 'Final Edition of Astral' (Westacre Concerto UK/Prima Donna of Astral) that was declared Reserve Champion Riding Pony Stallion.

Wanetta Paine is pictured with her own and husband, Graham's Champion Mare and Supreme Led Shetland, 'Gar-Won Dakota' (Moongalba Jasper/Mini Heaven Diana).

Well known Australian Pony breeder, exhibitor and judge, Graham Wass is pictured with his and wife Ruth's Best Two Year Old Australian Pony, 'Kar-Trice Savannah' (Mondiso Park Envision/Kar-Trice Celeste).

The Koorana Pony Stud had a great show taking out both Senior Championships. Anne Gavin is pictured with the beautiful and gleaming, 'Koorana Royal Ambition' (Koorana Royal Salute/Koorana Presentation" that was declared Champion Stallion and Supreme Champion Led Australian Pony.

Jan Young's charming, 'Dunthomas Shellby' (Dunthomas Painted Perfect/Philamara) won the class for Three Year Old Miniature Pony Filly.

Wayne Wilson took out the Best Three Year Old and Supreme Miniature Pony Award with his 'Mini Country Fantasy' (Mowgirl Fenwick/Small Toy Chiquita).

A very formal looking Shane Keir drove the Keir Family's well performed 'Four Winds Oz Parade' to win the class for Light Horse, Shetland or Pony Period Turnout.

Once 'Lucy' got her perscription glasses, so Frank Green tells us, she is so much better. Her rider, Theresa Green (!) clearly has inherited the family riding ability. Lucy and Theresa are part of the ring entertainment at the EKKA courtesy of Frank Green and Co.

Susan Paine is perfectly in step with her 'CP Sinatra (Shamalian/Cresswell Sheer Delight) that placed in the very strong Riding Pony 13-14.2hh Gelding class.

With Richard Sharman doing the honours, Kelly Bond's 'Rathowen Cracker Jack' (Courtland Boy Blue (Imp.),/Criquette D'Or) took second place in the strong class for Riding Pony Gelding Two Years and Over, 13-14.2hh.

What and outstanding pony! The Douglas Family's 'Mirinda Touch Of Mink', shown by Paul Austin claimed yet another prestigious award today. He was declared Best Riding Pony Gelding from a strong field.

The Kiabe Stud's 'Kiabe Spring Tribute' (Pendley Holly's Tribute imp/Solway Springtime imp) was declared Champion Riding Pony Stallion.

The George Family's beautiful, 'Rathowen Scarlet Ribbons' Courtland Boy Blue (Imp.)/Rathowen Russet) ran away with Nathan Birrell to claim the Mare Championship and the Supreme Riding Pony Award. Scarlet Ribbons also took out the Supreme Award in 2007.

Matthew Gavin is pictured with the Koorana Pony Stud's Champion Australian Pony Mare, 'Koorana Regal Princess' (Koorana Limited Edition/Koorana Anniversary).

Taylah Andrews and the STA Equestrian's 'Janevelyn Made To Order' (Weston Mirage/Glyndebourne Minelli) was declared Champion Led Riding Pony Show Hunter.

Yvette Moloney is pictured with her own and Shaun Moloney's impressive Champion Clydesdale Stallion, 'Tullymore William' (Lisborne Park Scottish Legend/Valmont Tia Maria).

L-R Judge, Colin Cox and Scott Goodall are pictured with Scott and Murray Goodall's statuesque Clydesdale Mare, 'Duncan Valley Tiffany' (Torrs Carlisle imp/Duncan Valley Temera). The mare won the "visibly" in foal Broodmare class, was declared Champion Mare and went on to claim the Supreme led Clydesdale Award.

Paddy Mitchell is happy to pose for the cameras during the class for Shetland Turnout for Boy/Girl Rider Under Six.

The delight in matching youth with experience is clearly in evidence in this photograph. Annabell Johnstone wisely chose the experienced, 'Riverlea Duncan' as three year old daughter, Bella's Turnout mount. And no pony comes more experienced than the 23 year old Duncan, that in his youth cut a very dashing figure, claiming the Champion Led Shetland Award at Brisbane. Although his Led years are well behind him, Duncan has spent a lifetime teaching new riders the ropes. After a sojourn in Victoria with the Cleland family, Duncan is back home teaching a new generation. A delighted Bella won the class for Shetland Turnout for Girls/Boys Under Six Years.

Jamie Raymont rode his 'Oz Lotto; to sixth place in the first Group Jumping class this afternoon.

Brett Warren won the first Group B class of the show riding his Lander gelding, 'Amici' (pictured). Brett also took second place riding the imported 'Cheezy Z' by Cathago Z.

Shane Davidson, a talented dressage and jumping rider took third place in the first Group B class of the show this afternoon. Shane rode his beautiful stallion, 'Fairbanks Cathago', eminently bred to jump, being by Indoctro and out of a Grannus II mare. The first three placegetters jumped a double clear.
