2009 Adelaide Royal Show

Fiona Mitchell drove her own and Max Mitchell's, 'Grenwood Alan' to fifth place in a very competitive class for Pleasure Harness Horse/Galloway Over 14hh.

Tracey Tester drove her own, 'Trapalanda Dandaragan' to win the class for Pleasure Horse/Galloway Over 14hh.

All the way from Queensland, Adam Oliver came, saw and conquered, to be declared Champion Gentleman Rider.

Gemma Creighton is having a super show. Gemma from Queensland is pictured riding ,'It's Jealousy' to fourth place in the Junior class this morning. She also rode Thomas Tucker's 'Just A Touch' to win.

Alice Cooney came all the way from Singapore to compete in the Junior Jumping section of the Royal Adelaide Show. Alice trains with South Australian, Clive Reed and is pictured riding her 'Galvey Bay' that stays with Clive.

Maryanne Pengelly from Tarneit in Victoria drove her, 'Owendale Apricot' to third place in the class for Viceroy Turnout for Non Hackney Horses, Galloways and Ponies.

Amanda Reid rode the wonderful, 'Farleigh Leander' to win the Intermediate Turnout class.

Allan Brown from Portland in NSW drove his delightful, 'Keral Izon' to win the Viceroy class for Horses, Galloways or Ponies.

Shannon Cantwell from Koo Wee Rup in Victoria drove her charming, 'Henty Downs Nicole' to fifth place in the Viceroy class for Horses, Galloways and Ponies.

The always elegant, Adele Gardiner from Gisborne South in Victoria rode her 'French Resort' to third place in the Equestrian Turnout class for Riders 18 Years and Over.

Chanele Hunter and her 'Crewe' from Chirnside Park in Victoria backed up their Novice performance with victory in the class for Open Hack 15-15.2hh.

Courtney Christie rode Christine Frost's, 'Elmdale Park Precision' to third place in the class for Open Hack 15-15.2hh.

Taylah Arnott from Lara in Victoria, with a little help from 'Farleigh Leander' was declared Reserve Champion Junior Rider 14 and Under 18 Years.

Caitlin Graham from Yankalilla in South Australia rode her , 'Helden Park Millionaire' to sixth place in the class for Open Hack 15-15.2hh.

Hayley Coman rode a very promising 8 and 5 over the two rounds of the Adelaide World Cup Qualifier riding Scott Keach's, 'Just Lately'. It was a good effort from both as the class was only their second World Cup start.

Jono Berry rode Kerri Winning's imported Quick Star stallion, 'Quincy Z' that looked amazing for most of the Adelaide World Cup course. A little loss of concentration mid way resulted in eight penalties in the first round, but they both finished well and jumped a good four penalty second round.

In only his second World Cup Qualifier, Kristy Bruhn's Quest For Fame gelding, 'Harbarty' made the World Cup Qualifier look easy. They jumped a double clear to take fourth place on time.

South Australian show jumping legend, Jeff Evans is celebrating his 50th Adelaide Royal. Jeff won the Group 1 class yesterday and jumped a good eight penalty World Cup round aboard his super, 'Bradley'.

Julia Hargreaves and 'Haymen Pierville' (aka Copabella Haymen) jumped a super first round clear and looked to have repeated the performance in the second round when the last vertical hit the turf. They took fifth place in the Adelaide World Cup Qualifier with a two round total of five in quite a fast time.

"Jetset, Sunset". Wendy Schaeffer flew in this morning from the Sydney Three Day Event to ride her sensational mare, 'Koyuna Sunset'. A busy schedule maybe, but it has not affected Wendy's performance. She jumped a double clear to take second place in the Adelaide World Cup Qualifier by less than a second.

The Australian Sporthorse Breeder's 'ASB Conquistador' looks a real international prospect. The imported Clinton stallion ridden by Chris Chugg jumped clear and eight, to be out of the money in the Adelaide World Cup Qualifier, but we are sure to see much more of this impressive horse in the future. Chris' World Cup ride, 'Vivant', winner of the last two qualifiers, jumped four and clear to take sixth place.

Successful young Victorian rider, Demi Morrison had a good day at the office riding her own and Barb Begley's showing legend, 'Lemrac's Dancing Poet'. They took sixth place in the Intermediate Turnout class and the class for Open Hack 15.2-16hh.

Michelle Lang-McMahon certainly had that "look at me" quality today as did the Animo stallion, 'Animate'. Michelle made the trip from Queensland just for the World Cup Qualifier. It proved well worth the effort, as she rode beautifully and the horse responded in like manner. They jumped a double clear for third place on time. They also earned half a Certificate of Capability, a qualification necessary for 2010 World Championship selection. Today marks quite a leap forward in their international ambitions.

Becky Allen has been coming to Adelaide since she was a very young Junior rider. And she will keep coming, as Adelaide has always been a wonderful show for her. Today she rode 'Koyuna Ted' to jump a super double clear and a daring second round, to claim the Adelaide World Cup Qualifier with the careful Ted. The receipt of half a Certificate of Capability was a further sweetener to the victory. Becky has won two previous Adelaide World Cup Qualifiers, in 2004 and 2005 riding the home Bred, Lorikeet. At the end of a successful day The Allan family's RSB Jacana claimed the Julie Wilson Photography Prize for Best Performed Young Jumping Horse of the Show. A title Jacana also won at Sydney Royal earlier this year.

Tammy Notman from Lancefield in Victoria rode her beautiful 'MP Galveston' to second place in the class for open Hack 16-16.2hh.

Melissa Karutz's, 'Byalee Millions' measured up to take sixth place in the class for Open Hack 16-16.2hh.

The McEvoy girls from Strathmore in Victoria have pulled off an impressive double. Earlier in the show Lily McEvoy claimed the Under 14 Junior Rider Championship and today Rose McEvoy (pictured) rode beautifully to take out the Junior Rider 14 and Under 18 Years Championship.

Leanne Donoghue rode her own and Charlotte Mitton's beautiful big horse, 'Flawless' to win the class for Open Hack Over 16.2hh.

Samantha Kennedy from Birdwood rode her well-performed, 'Famous' to fourth place in the class for Open Hack Over 16.2hh.

Chris Lawrie has been quiet all show, but is beginning to make his move. Chris is pictured riding his own and Jaclyn Jacobson's 'INXS' to second place in the class for Open Hack Over 16.2hh. A little earlier in the afternoon, Chris rode his own, 'Black Tie' to win the class for Open Hack 16-16.2hh.
