Youth and talent is a wonderful combination and it was really demonstrated this morning in the final Section 2 jump off class. Tom McDermott, who is still eligible to ride in both Junior and Young Rider classes took first and second place. Tom jumped the only two clear rounds of the class, opting to take the win on the McDermott Family and Carol Mason's 'CP Rolex' with the McDermott's 'Statford Delight', second.
Nic Taliana and 'Ambrose' jumped a good round with an unlucky four penalties over the tough Section 2 track this morning. It was however good enough to take third place.
Luke Stuart-Smith did the honours with Charlotte Allison-Bruce's 'Future Farms Miss California' (Jurah Masterpiece/Amaki's Impressionable) that was declared Champion Palomino Mare.

Kim McGregor from Glossodia claimed the Non Hackney Sulky/Buggy Horse Championship with the McGregor Family's 'Judstan Kabir' and today was thrilled to take out the Supreme Non Hackney award.
The Keir Family had another splendid show. The harness exhibitors from Canberra make a huge effort to bring as many horses and vehicles as they can to Sydney. Paul Keir was at the reins and Peter Keir on board to collect the takings, and the home bred 'Canberra Park Stepalong Generald' provided the horse power for the beautiful fresh food delivery van. This afternoon they claimed the Tradesman's Turnout Championship.

Vince Corvi again dominated the Hackney classes at Sydney. He drove his own Margaret Beggs and Terry Cowan's magnificent 'Hudson Valentina' (Dunolly Nureyev/Dunolly Golden Maid) to claim the award for Supreme Hackney Exhibit.
Tara Sheridan riding 'Prince Solomon' got the new and exciting Eventing Exhibition under way. The competition for CNC Two Star and above horses incorporated a dressage test conducted in the Scmnidt arena, followed by a really entertaining "cross jumping". The entire Sydney arena was given over to six portable cross country fences and six showjumps that were set as a course; not cross country jumps then showjumps, the fences were mixed up. It was a super idea and worked well, as there was no time consuming changeover from cross country to showjumping. The crowd really got behind the class with the help of announcer Graham Barker's enthusiastic urging. There was an optimum time of 92 seconds and only the winner managed to get under it.
Sandy Lucas rode Ruth O'Grady's Thoroughbred, 'Third Son ' to third place in the new and exciting Eventing Exhibition competition. The dressage scores were translated to penalties, but not as in normal eventing and they were added to the cross jumping penalties, which included one time penalty for every second or part there of over the time allowed, as well as five penalties for a lowered show jump.
Cassandra Webb rode her 'Beckli' to fourth place in the Eventing Exhibition.
Olympian, Stuart Tinney makes a lovely jump over one of the portable cross country fences aboard his 'Kinnordy Rubino' by Riverdance, during the Eventing Exhibition. Stuart took it quietly and finished down the line.
Lauren Balcomb and her talented , 'Kootamootoo' by Salute jumped well , but added just a few too many time penalties to finished eighth in the inaugural Eventing Exhibition.
Well known and successful eventing rider, Claudia Graham was just a tad over the time allowed and lowered the last fence, a vertical to add five penalties to her score, to finish in second place.
Shane Rose, sporting his now famous colours backed up a good dressage phase and produced a near perfect round riding his 'APH Moritz' by APH Coriolo, to come home penalty free in 91.11 seconds and win the inaugural Exhibition Eventing competition. "He is a very careful horse and he was super" declared a delighted Rose after his round.

Grant Whatham scored a good 86 to take second place in the last of the six World Championship Campdraft rounds riding his 'Yorlanna Salute'. The score was enough to see the pair from Stanhope in NSW claim the Duke of Gloucester Perpetual Cup and the 2011 Championship.
