Joanne Bensley has had a super show with the Bensley Family's, 'Stillbrook Tabitha'. Earlier in the show, Tabitha was awarded the Sulky/Buggy Horse Championship and today claimed the Sulky/Buggy Horse Turnout Championship and with it the EMMA Bull Memorial Perpetual Trophy. Joanne and Tabitha went on to claim the Mary Willsallen Memorial award for Supreme Harness Turnout.
Tom McDermott raced away with the final Young Rider class riding Carol Mason and the McDermott Family's 'CP Rolex'. Tom and Rolex won three of the four Young Rider classes on offer and were fifth in the fourth class. Understandably Tom was named Champion Young Rider. Not wanting to get ahead of himself, yesterday Tom claimed the Maurice Gordon Memorial Perpetual Trophy for Champion Boy Rider in the Junior Section.
Despite very wet conditions, Sophie Miller jumped a good four penalty first round aboard 'Eliza Jane' in the last Young Rider class of the Show.
This photograph shows a lot. Firstly that it was raining very hard during the last Young Rider class of the show and also the good form Danielle Butcher and 'Twins Quantum' are showing over the Paddington Houses despite the appalling conditions.
David Cameron has had success in section 3 during the show riding his 'Explore' and is pictured during the Mini Prix on a wet Sydney morning.
The jump looks a little awkward, but Kathy Graham has her eyes fixed on the next fence as her 'Davinci's Pride' makes a big effort over this oxer during the Kevin Bourke Memorial Mini Prix this morning. They jumped a double clear for second place.
Rick Jones drove his own and Bob Richardson's 'Royal' to take fifth place in the strong class for Medium Delivery Horse.
David Cooper and 'Margaret River' jumped well to take forth place in the Kevin Bourke Memorial Mini Prix.
Hilary Scott rounded off a good show with her mother, Alice Cameron's talented and imported, 'Oaks Miss Scarlet' that took third place in the Kevin Bourke Memorial Mini Prix.
Wendy Schaeffer has so many good horses, that if one does not win, the other will. Wendy rode her 'Koyuna Sun Shine' to jump a super double clear to win the Kevin Bourke Memorial Mini Prix. Wendy Claimed the Champion Section 2 Horse award with her 'Koyuna Sun Dancer' and the Champion Section 1 Horse award with her, 'Koyuna Sun Set'. Wendy and 'Sun Set' did not start in the World Cup.
Michelle Oakford drove the Oakford and Reeve nomination, 'Millbrae Medallion' to take out the Shetland Pony Harness Turnout Reserve Championship.
David Cranwell drove his own and Julia Cranwell's 'Woodland's Park Peter' to take fifth place in the very strong class for Heavy Delivery Horse.
Brock Houlahan drove Ross and Miriam Carbery's magnificent Percheron mare, 'Carbery Estate Pepsi' to win the Heavy Delivery horse class and claim the Delivery Horse Championship.
Heidi Stevens drove her own and Karen Price's 'Noddy Nik Nak' to win the Sulky/Buggy Pony Championship. They are pictured putting their best foot forward in the workout for Supreme Harness Turnout.
Wendy Ragg is pictured at the reins of the Ragg and Proctor Show Team's 'Krystal Park Limited Edition' pulling the beautiful buggy. They took out the Hard Tyred Turnout Championship and are pictured during the Supreme Harness Turnout workout.
With Shane Keir at the reins and Jackson Keir assisting, 'Canberra Park Stepalong Mollie', exhibited by P and S Keir, was declared Reserve Champion Delivery Horse.
Stuart Garland drove his own and the Barrington Clydesdales', 'Tergavarah Herbert' to second place in the class for Heavy Delivery Horse.
Amanda Madigan stepped aboard Michelle Barrera's beautiful imported Indorado mare, 'Alondra' for the Sydney Royal World Cup to post a 6 penalties first round for one fence down and two time.
Coco Miles made her World Cup debut at Sydney riding her talented and imported, 'Candle'. They jumped a good round until the very last fence when a misunderstanding resulted in a fall of rider and very sadly Coco's elimination. However, they demonstrated great promise for future World Cup competition.
Experience will out in the end. Clem Smith rode Neville and Lyn Rose's well performed 'Dark Ages' to post the only first round clear in the Sydney World Cup Qualifier. Clem held firm and with just one fence down in the second round and one time penalty, was a popular winner of the class.
Grant Hughes proved that he still has what it takes to win big classes at Sydney and today in the World Cup Qualifier he emphasised his good form. He rode both 'Emmaville Ricochet' (pictured) and 'Yakity Yak' to post four penalty first and second rounds on both to finish second and third respectively with a two round total of eight with both horses. Ricochet jumped the faster second round. 'Yakity Yak' was declared "Best Performed Jumping Horse of the Show".
Brook Dobbin and his super little, 'GP Shine' did their best to promote the good qualities of the Thoroughbred. The game and competitive horse lowered a rail and added one time penalty in the second round to take fourth place in the Sydney Royal World Cup Qualifier with a total of 13 penalties.
David Robertson and his well performed Thoroughbred, 'Sharpe Seal' jumped a good four penalty second round to make up for a disappointing first round tour. David and Sharpe Seal took fifth place with a two round total of 16.
Jamie Kermond chose Sydney Royal to step Des Russell's impressive Quattro B stallion, 'Valhalla 3' up to World Cup competition. They produced a good first round, really warming to the course after lowering the third fence, to post a four penalty round. The night time setting of the second round proved to be an added difficulty for some of the greener horses. Valhalla lowered three fences and with a time penalty finished with a total of 17 penalties. It was a good World Cup start and enough to earn him sixth place.
